Favorite Muppet?

I always liked the big monsters. I had to go online to get their ‘official’ names.

Thog, Luncheon Counter Monster and Doglion Beast (my fave because he looked like a big kitty!)

Gotta be Animal!!With honorable mentions to Scred, Swedish Chef, Beaker and Crazy Harry.

I…I…I have to…choose??? gasp

Sweetums, Dr. Teeth, Janice, Fozzie, and a special nod to Marjorie the Trash Heap

Sweetums. The original big warm & fuzzy.

So little love for Miss Piggy? Sigh, the instigator never gets respect. And none from me either.

Beaker for the TV shows, the Rizzo/Gonzo combination for the movies.

NO ONE said Elmo. Elmo will shit on you. For real.

Elmo doesn’t count.

If there was a “Least Favourite Muppet”, Elmo would be my nominee.

Statler and Waldorf

shortly followed by Fozzie Bear and Kermit

No kidding. I keep waiting for Yoda to say Wokka Wokka Wokka. During the fight scene that Yoda has in episode 2 I burst out laughing because I kept imagining Fozzie showing up. My cousin had the same problem.

Yeah, but wouldn’t that have improved the movie?

Heh. I once suggested a band name for some friends, 3/4s of whom happened to be from my swampy little area of south Georgia: Dr. Tooth and the Electric Mayhaw. 1/4 of the band didn’t get the joke, and used his veto. I was vastly disappointed.

Choosing my favorite-est Muppet would be like choosing my favorite child, so I’ll just have to make a list:

From Sesame Street: Cookie Monster, Mr. Snuffelupagus (sp?), Kermit (in his Muppet News guise,) and Grover.

From the Muppet Show: Animal, Beaker, Statler & Waldorf, Dr. Teeth, Gonzo, Sweetums, and the Swedish Chef.

From the movies: Rizzo the Rat and Pepe, from the otherwise unremarkable Muppets version of The Wizard of Oz.

Oscar. Hands down. He’s my idol, well, except I don’t want to live in a trashcan.

Also, the Count.

And anyone from PIGS IN SPACE!!

Me too!!!

Personally, the complicated relationship between Kermit and Miss Piggy fascinated me as a kid. Now as an adult I can see all the double entendres.

Personality-wise, I am soo Kermit. :smack:

Man, rolf was excellent. Especially as “Dr Bob”.

There was remarkably little talk about Tickle Me Elmo’s career as a sex toy, Tickle Me Dildo. A fuzzy thing that wiggles like crazy when you tickle it? C’mon!

I’ve always been so in love with Kermit. I cried when Jim Henson died.

I think that’s tickle me penis.
I like the band and Kermie, of course.

The two headed monster (Sesame Street) is wonderful.

I like Scooter, too. And Grover (with the waiter? Classic comedy!)

It’s like M&M’s–who can choose?

If I pick Rizzo (The rat with Gonzo) and Pepe (The Shrimp, he was on a few Long John Silvers spots) am I still allowed a bigger muppet (in terms of size?).

Then again… are we simply counting Muppets, or any Henson Creation?
(I mean think of all the muppets in “A Muppet Family Chirstmas”!)

Careful for the Icy patch!

I mean, Ludo (Labyrinth) and the Fraggles, et al, need representation. (Not to mention the live action TMNT films.)

but seriously… too hard to pick just one. Not only in terms of personal favorites, just that they play off each other so well.
I guess at the end of the day, I have to go with Animal and Gonzo. NICE HANGERS!!! NICE HANGERS!!

Oh yeah. I forgot about Grover and the resturant bit. IIRC, Grover was the waiter, and the same Green anything muppet had the missfortune of getting him each time he wanted service at the various venues.

What I liked, Is that I was flipping around, -no ok I admit it, I was watching Sesame Street recently (It beats Jenny and Montel etc.) and was Glad to see that the bit still lives on. In the most recent version of the bit Ive seen, Grover and the Green Muppet, where at a fast food place, and well, second verse same as the first.

But Frankly, most of the Muppets, (Any Muppet Venue) is for Adult Audiences (But NOT MATURE audiences… if you follow). I can’t tell you the number of references I Now get from watching the Older Classic Movies.

I have to admit, Dr. Teeth freaked me out as a kid. I was afraid he’d come through the TV and bite me with that ever-present, macabre grin. :shudder:

From the Muppet Show: The Swedish Chef, Bunsen and Beaker, Rowlf, (the most huggable, I thought) Scooter and Gonzo.

From Sesame Street: Big Bird, Bert and Ernie, and Grover. Grover was and is the man…er, Muppet. Grover as the Waiter were my favorite scenes.

And what was the name of that insect family who lived inside a milk carton?
