I hate to admit it, but I love the “Vogue” video by Madonna. It’s like browsing through an Annie Leibovitz book…

And I still enjoy the “Beat It” video by Michael Jackson. He may be a freak of nature, but that boy can dance.

“Everybody Hurts” - R.E.M.

Most of the Guns N’ Roses videos were great. I especially liked “November Rain” and “Don’t Cry”.

Dire Straits - “Money for Nothing” and “Brothers in Arms”

A-Ha had some pretty cool videos - “Take on Me”

I’m so old fashioned… I think my favorite video is still “Take on Me” by A-Ha

Running up are Siouxie and the Banshees “Face to Face” (Batman Returns soundtrack)
“Mea Culpa” by Enigma
and some other that I won’t remember til later on account of I just woke up.

Oh yeah…“Thriller” brings back some memories. I was expecting there to be closing credits to that music video.

I don’t think music will ever be the same as it used to be, with Weird Al putting out parodies on the popular songs. He does a great job of that, and I’m in agreement with a lot of you. Everything he does makes me laugh.

People are stupid. That’s all that ever needs to be said.

My two favourites are Radiohead’s “Street Spirit”, which is just beautiful, and New Order’s “True Faith”. You just have to love a video where two guys keep slapping each other in sync with the music throughout the video. Not to mention the punching bag woman that does the lyrics in sign language.

I’d have to say my absolute favorite video would be Losing my Religion, by REM.
I know it’s been said already…

My top 10 in no particular order:

  1. Boys of summer Don Henley
  2. Metro Berlin
  3. State of the Nation Industry
  4. New yeras Day U2
  5. Phantom Menace Weird Al
  6. If anyone Falls Stevie Nicks
  7. Sonny Came Home Shawn Colvin
  8. Pressure Billy Joel
  9. Pump up the Volume Maars
  10. If you had my Love Jennifer Lopez

Icerigger…sighs Jennifer Lopez.

I also enjoy the videos where it doesn’t have any particular storyline involved. It’s just the energy of the band. I just recently saw the new RATM video for “Guerilla Radio.” That’s a pretty good video. It does have storyline, but it shows a lot of emotion, too. I also recently saw the new KoRn video for “Falling Away From Me.” The directing job on it was pretty good, the message sent was positive, and the energy was classic KoRn.

People are stupid. That’s all that ever needs to be said.

Icerigger - explain to me why Boys Of Summer (which was the big time winner on the first MTV Video Awards I think) is your favourite?

Because I don’t get it. He’s just in the back of a car driving through town, mix through to a couple on the beach. In B&W.

It’s totally nothing to me.

GUANOLAD–

As for boys of summer, I don't like it for Don Henley but for the impression the images gave me. I see the man at the desk with his papers and liquor cart as a man successful in business and wealthy, powerful but empty. I see the couple on the beach as him with his lost love, he is very unhappy with his life and would give it up

just to be on that beach with her again. I find the video as a very sad story about lost love.

Shania Twain: Man, I Feel Like a Woman. Go ahead, flame away, but I stand, uhm, firmly, by my choice. I can watch that video over, and over, and over again. Much to my better half’s chagrin. She’ll get over it. I hope.

Jeremy…

Anyone who says they don’t like children obviously isn’t cooking them properly.

Ahh…I live for music videos with a message, especially those dealing with love. Right now, I’m in love, so whatever has to do with love hits close to home. Even those with loves past hit home. I had to search far and wide before I found my treasure.

The only difference between genius and stupidity is that genius has its limits.

Most of mine have been mentioned, so I’ll skip the repetition. However, I do love “Push” by Matchbox 20. The colors, angles, props and facial expressions by everyone are wonderful, and go along with the song very well.

If he also didn’t direct all those Backstreet Boys/Britney Spears videos, Nigel Dick would be my personal god.

Anyone here ever see Let Forever Be by Chemical Brothers? It’s the song on their new album with vocals by Noel Gallagher.

Anyway, I’ve only seen it played twice, both times late at night. One of the coolest videos I’ve ever seen. Very trippy. The new Gap commericial that has “Ice Ice Baby” playing and has people merging into one another is basically a ripoff of the C. Bros. video.

Stevie, yeah, I actually have seen that video. The reason that video hasn’t been previously mentioned by me is that MTV hasn’t played it in a while. I was awed by the effects used in that. I told my friends about that, and oddly enough, they haven’t seen it. That particular video didn’t get a lot of playing time…however, in my mind, anything by one of the Gallagher brothers has to be good

I’m sorry in advance for knocking your opinion, but out of all the videos to choose from this was yours? The topic wasn’t “Longest most drown out power-ballad video” you know.

I can agree with that…

drown=drawn

For the most part, I agree with that statement. It was a long video. You have to remember, however, that the song itself was long and drawn out. I don’t enjoy rock bands coming out with a power ballad to show off their “soft side” once in their careers (ex. Aerosmith). It’s a bug that I don’t like to bite, and it has bitten some of the best. Even with this, though, “November Rain” was a decent ballad song. I just hope that “ballad bug” doesn’t really bite any other noteworthy bands soon…

“Let Forever Be” - Chemical Brothers
(best use of ‘melding’ a la Gap ads)

“Coffee and TV” - Blur
(it’s nice, I guess)

“Kelly Watch The Stars” - Air
(table tennis. French.)

“Bittersweet Symphony”
(mad bloke lead singer walks down street)
