Favorite Post-1985 Animated Disney Flick??

Lilo and Stitch, Atlantis, and Mulan.

I cried like a baby through much of L&S. Atlantis, although cliched, was one of the more intelligent movies Disney’s made, IMHO. And although I love those cheesy musicale soundtracks, :o the lack of them in both those movies was refreshing.

And Mulan was just funny, in so many ways.

Ellen Cherry The Belle cameo come in during the song ‘Out There’. The Hunchback looks out over the square and there is a familar girl walking while reading a book. IIRC it’s during that song
Fenris I am very familar with the Ichabod and Mr. Toad. I love that telling of the Headless horseman story. Yes, I too saw that Gastons design was clearly lifted from Brom. I was just saying that IMO not having a character clearly labled EVIL from the first time you see him adds a level of depth to the story.
Basically Gaston goes insane over the course of the story.
Avalonian Thank you for sharing your opinion with me. After reattaching my head I will re-assert that IMHO the songs were terrific. They require some actual singing talent and have challenging ranges. I do agree that the comic relief gargoyles were a weakness and if you drop them it would be a much better film. And yes the film has a tacked on happy ending but after all it is DISNEYS HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME.

If you want more sucky films from the Disney animated vaults look at most of the 70’s and early 80’s.

I have fond memories of The Black Cauldron. My father took my sister and I to see it, which he only did on a couple of occasions in his life. No cheesy musical numbers, and for disney a pretty dark and brooding look and plot. Probably one of the few disney movies I’d think about buying, mostly for sentimental reasons.
The other movie he took us to see was The Fox and the Hound. :>
