Favorite SNL recurring character\skits

Bass-o-Matic!

Stevie Wonder (Murphy) and Frank Sinatra (Piscopo) singing “Ebony and Ivory.”

The Velvet Jones Institute of Technology: So You Want To Be a Ho.

Gumby and Pokey.

Kareem Abdul Mohammed.

Bernadette Peters singing “When You’re Making Love Alone.” :o

Was that recurring, or have they just played the clip often enough that it seems like it?

The latter probably. But seeing

above made me think of Bass-o-Matic and that bit for one of the cheapo records deals with “…every record ever recorded…” and things like that early in the run.

Bernadette Peters was not recurring, but I sure have thought about her performance many times ever since. :o

From the Eddie Murphy years, James Brown’s Celebrity Hot Tub (“Too HOT in the hot tub!”)

Tyrone Green, winner of the “Prose and Cons” poetry festival with this entry:

“Dark and lonely on the summer night.
Kill my landlord, kill my landlord.
Watchdog barking - Do he bite?
Kill my landlord, kill my landlord.
Slip in his window,
Break his neck!
Then his house
I start to wreck!
Got no reason –
What the heck!
Kill my landlord, kill my landlord.
C-I-L-L …
My land - lord …
Def!”
I always liked “What’s Up with That?”. Jason Sudeikis killed me with the dancing. Of the new people, Taran Killem cracks me up.

I’ll co-sign Celebrity Jeopardy. And I’ll add The Ambiguously Gay Duo.

Michael O’Donoghue’s Least Loved Bedtime Stories with Mr. Mike.

Goth Talk made me laugh because I knew some people in that subculture, and it nailed them perfectly.

More recently, I like The Girl You Wish You Hadn’t Started a Conversation With At a Party, and the utterly hopeless Russia peasant Olya.

I’m getting the idea some people don’t understand the meaning of the word “recurring”.

I’ll second Stefon and Mr. Robinson’s Neighborhood.

Good times.

Former Porn Star Commercials.

Christopher Guest and Billy Crystal as “Willie and Frankie”
Mike Meyer’s “Lothar and the Hill People”
Jim Henson’s “The Land Of Gorch”.
Phil Hartman’s “Anal Retentive [fill in the blank]”.

Anything by Steve Martin, especially this. A tip of the hat to that mad sax player, Lou Marini.

What the hell ever happened to that show? For my dollars, Fox News is a better entertainment value.

For some unexplainable reason I always liked the one with the French people dancing. I don’t know what it was called.

Wait a sec…I’ll see if I can find it.

Here’s a little clip.

I think maybe it’s Nasim Pedrad in a beret and heels!

Dana Carvey as Ross Perot. A few times he had Hartman as James Stockdale with him.

Turd Fergesen
Funny, funny name

Unfrozen Caveman Lawyer

Apparently it’s called “Les Jeunes de Paris”.

Only one recurring SNL skit was funny enough to turn into a truly hilarious movie, with a decent sequel.

And that skit is…

Wayne’s World! Wayne’s World! It’s party time, excellent, Wayne’s World! Wayne’s World!
