Favorite song about cheaters/cheating

My nomination for creepiest top 40 hit ever, btw.

First Aid Kit Tangerine

Haha, possibly. Although, that song is pretty damn good and unique. But I admit it’s creepy, especially the last verse…

Please try to understand
I’m in love with another man
but what he couldn’t give me, oh
was the one little thing that you can
<_< so creepy

A deep album cut off The Rolling Stones “Steel Wheels” album URL=“cant be seen - The Rolling Stones - YouTube”]Can’t be Seen was one I always liked. (Of course when that album came out I had a crush on a guy who had just got back together with an ex-girlfriend… nothing came of it, but when you are 20 lyrics have a certain resonance.)

Sloan’s The Other Man is a good one.
Is this for the saddest MP3 play list ever?

Haha no I just figured it would make a good thread topic

Take It Easy by the Eagles.

“The Thunder Rolls” by Garth Brooks. The full version with the last verse (infrequently heard) about how the wife resolves the problem.

True! Nearly the whole album Strong Persuader. I especially enjoy* I Guess I Showed Her.*

Oh come on, 70 posts and no one has;

The Piña Colada Song by Rupert Holmes

or

Lucille by Kenny Rogers

If it hasn’t been mentioned yet, I recommend Little Milton’s “Let Me Down Easy.” Listened it for MONTHS after my divorce. Yeah, my ex “let me down easy,” but that didn’t ease the grief and anger and betrayal I felt.

Great song & lyrics, though!

For Escape? Yeah, in post #25.

Although the intent to cheat was there, I guess they decided to stay together after bumping into each other at O’Malley’s Bar.

Conway Twitty singing Linda on my Mind

Reminder, folks – please don’t quote lyrics in full (no more than a chorus, or chorus and verse). Feel free to link to full version elsewhere, though.

I did remember what year it was before I said “saddest mix tape ever!”

Dixie Chicken by Little Feet.
“and all the boys there in the bar began to sing along…”
Betty and Me by Jonathan Coulton.

Bobby Vee - The Night Has a Thousand Eyes

It’s so…cheerful.

Josh Groban’s “Broken Vow:” (…yes, I happen to like some…schmaltzy sounding stuff)

“Tell me his name
I want to know
The way he looks
And where you go
I need to see his face
I need to understand
Why you and I came to an end”

The piano is absolutely gorgeous as well. It just conveys so much sadness, plus the lyrics.

Oh, and the wonderfully bitter “You Oughtta Know,” by Alanis Morissette. At least, I think it counts, or at least it could be construed as such.

Del Amitri - Last to know.

Elvis - Suspicious Minds.

Oh holy shit! How could I neglect to mention Marianne Faithfull!?!? Though I prefer the version from Blazing Away better…

Pick up your mic, wheresmymind–your girl got beat by decades.

Now the thread is over.

Azraiel–I just came in to post that Marrianne Faithful song. Honest to OG, all the talk of fruit that tastes like sweaty gonads reminded me.
