Kickers or punters or even long snappers could do it, although that’s probably less impressive than the guy running the offense. Jeff Feagles never missed a game in 22 years. He punted for the Giants and a couple of other teams and played in all 352 regular season games during that time.
Don’t worry, Ellis – there is now, as there was this entire week, zero chance that Favre doesn’t start. Tuck, Osi and the crew will have plenty of chances to knock him senseless.
Hmmm…I wonder if the defensive coaches are telling them to “hit him, but not hard enough to knock him out of the game…we could use one of his patented final-drive no-look easy-pick passes”.
I don’t disagree that he’s tough as nails, given the injuries he’s played through. In addition to the broken thumb, he’s also played many games on badly sprained ankles.
But, luck plays a role, too. He’s never had a knee injury, or a significant shoulder injury until now. He’s never had a noteworthy concussion. Those are the sorts of things that, tough or not, you’re not going to be able to come back and play the next week.
In the early years, maybe, but that whole episode (and the trip to rehab at Hazelden to kick the addiction) was in the offseason before the '96 season. He’s had a lot of injuries since then.
This whole thing could be a opportune face saving boon for Favre and the League. If he doesn’t play again, they don’t have to worry about punishment for the wang texting.
Last week I picked the Bills to win in our office pool because “Favre can always be counted on to throw a few picks.” True to my lousy season so far, he was knocked out of the game with the Bills up 7-0, courtesy of, yes, a pick-six thrown by Favre. Tavaris Jackson then led Minnesota to 37 unanswered points.
Says something that I was thinking the Bills could beat Favre, but not Tavaris Freaking Jackson.
The career intereception record is actually pretty impressive; sort of like Nolan Ryan’s career walk record. The top ten include five hall of famers, plus Favre.
