I’ve grown to despise Favre over the last 8 years, ever since his yearly “will I retire?” drama started. But I do have to give him credit for one of my favorite press conference quotes. He’d just thrown 6 interceptions in a playoff game that the Packers lost, (obviously), and when asked about it he said something to the effect of “I would have thrown 6 more. I’m trying to win a game.” I don’t remember the exact wording, but it wasn’t ironic. Even though I dislike the guy, that quote still makes me think “Fuck yeah!”
Jeff Feagles already has it with something like 342.
I believe third place behind Favre is an active streak of ~280, held by a defensive lineman. (I know the length and position, just not positive if it’s active. Mike Golic always brings it up as more impressive than Favre’s, which I wholeheartedly agree with.)
Feagles has the longest streak of games played but since he was a punter, it doesn’t count as having started those games. Farve’s record is for games started.
Jim Marshall, actually. Also a Viking .. one of the Purple People Eaters. Also remembered for picking up a fumble and running the wrong way to score a safety for the 49ers, I believe.
Although coincidentally, a baseball player named Mike Marshall has an iron man record of his own, having set a record that will probably never be broken when he pitched in 106 games in 1974.
