A friend of mine had Facebook (FB) do something strange to her. It created a 2nd FB page for her. On my end, it TOLD me I had just added her as a friend. (No, it did not ask “would I like to add her?”) She tells me it’s like FB blinked, and now she had two FB pages with most of her friends on one, and the remainder on the other.
She was wondering if there is a way to merge the two FB pages? She’s afraid to delete one thinking maybe they’re linked, and it could act on both?!?! Is there a factual answer how to resolve this? It seems FB offers no technical support.
Wow, I am amazed you found this! I have searched their website many times, and I have never found even a hint of customer service. Others have said the same thing about FB. It’s like they just don’t care.
I agree, but to put it in perspective, they have over 400 million active users and about 1200 employees. That’s a ratio of 3 employees for every 1 million users, even if all were working in support. Which they aren’t.
You will notice that even Google’s products, including Gmail, have no reasonable option to contact a human.
At the massive scale on which companies like Facebook and Google operate, offering individualized customer service for free products becomes highly impractical.
Amazon, on the other hand, does a great job of customer support, but I would assume their Average Revenue Per User is much higher, and once people pay for products or services their expectations change accordingly.
Facebook’s revenue in 2009 was ~$550 million. That’s about $1.375 per user. And that’s just revenue, not even profit.
Amazon’s revenue in 2009 was ~25 billion. Assuming 200 million users, that’s about $125 per user.
