FBI is re-opening investigation into Clinton's email

Memory lapse. She did break the law on handling classified material. Prosecution is only considered in cases of criminal intent.

WAG-Sort of like not noticing your speed has crept over the limit might only get you a warning rather than a ticket as opposed to deliberately doing 100 through a school zone.

Just because charges were not brought does not the make the behavior legal. Comey said that there were potential violations of the law. He also said that his opinion was that no ‘reasonable’ prosecutor would file charges. Note, that judgement is his judgement, others may come to a different conclusion.

My personal opinion is that we, the citizens of the country, have been turning a blind eye to illegal/unethical behavior for the politicians for way too long. This goes for both sides.

The only way to stop the politicians from doing this shit is to punish the behavior. So, imho, if we really want honest politicians then we ought to prosecute regardless of the politicians political party, whether we like them, etc.

That goes for Clinton, Trump, Powell or whomever else does this shit.

Of course, that will never happen as truth and honesty are not the goals of the electorate. The goal, presently, is to stick it to the ‘other’ side.

Uggh. It has nothing to do with politicians getting away with stuff. Comey said they couldn’t find any case, in the approximately 100 years the law has been on the books, of ANYONE being charged purely on the basis of gross negligence. Charging her would have been completely unfair.

There is a case to be made for keeping politicians to a higher standard. Investigating and prosecuting for things that civilians would not. I could get behind that.

But starting that “new” policy with Clinton would be a rather partisan thing to do.

If you want politicians held to a higher standard then you pass legislation that targets them. You don’t apply the same laws differently to them.

No, it was a trivial blunder.

It’s easy to make broad and declarative proclamations when you have no idea what you’re talking about.

It’s not like secret dispatches were sent on her email. It was stuff copied or paraphrased. Basically them talking about stuff.

I think we’re in agreement, I came late and just read the last few posts. But here’s my point, which, if I read the whole thread, may be an old point. But anyway…

These weren’t emails that were chocked full of classified info like the raw blueprints for the death star. She received emails that had tidbits of classified info. A sentence or two, maybe a paragraph. There were 81 emails in total, but many of them were replies that automatically quoted the original. In 11 of them, Clinton had replied with unclassified questions or comments. She never sent classified information, except when her reply automatically quoted it.

But every single one of those original emails were written by someone who then typed out her address that wasn’t supposed to receive classified info and clicked send. The FBI also found that every single one of them was written on unclassified systems. These emails came from people at agencies like NSA, CIA, and even the FBI.

So, all these government officials sent emails with unmarked classified information. They sent them from unclassified email systems to an unclassified email system. Maybe Hillary is guilty of knowingly receiving them (which isn’t really against the law but might look bad), but someone needs to prove that she knew they were classified. Only then they can complain about Hillary, but they also better complain about all those other people who actually sent the emails to begin with.

The FBI questioned them and they all admitted to it. Every single one of them mishandled classified information. I would stipulate that Hillary did as well although I couldn’t exactly prove she knew she was doing it because every single one of those other people broke a rule that she didn’t, they sent classified information without marking it properly.

Very good point, but it does not boil down to a single phrase like “lock her up”. It’s too nuanced. And those people who sent the classified emails are not running for office as a member of the evil Democratic party, so there is no point to hounding them.

The only point for the braying masses is that Hillary is a felon. This is what they keep repeating, in the complete absence of evidence. Comey sealed the deal. Comey got Trump in office. I hope he enjoys his 30 pieces of sliver.

Trump will probably hang a CMoH around his neck. The review of the newly discovered e-mails will disappear like a fart in the wind. We will never hear about it again. Perhaps, if an FOIA is filed, the info will be so heavily redacted that it will not even have readable dates on it. But that much is moot. It accomplished what was intended.

The emails were reviewed. There were an undisclosed number but they were duplicates the FBI already had from the original investigation.

Sorry to bump this, but:

No! Wrong! You’re the lame!

Closing near zombie.
