Sorry I posted before reading the second half of your post (Slaps self on wrist wit ruler “Bad Buck_Godot!”) which makes exactly the same distinction that I was.
FBI Search and Seizure at Trump's Mar-A-Lago Residence, August 8, 2022, Case Dismissed July 15, 2024
That’s what you get for agreeing with me. It can only lead to bad things.
I’m not going over to Truth Social to verify this, but Heather Cox Richardson including the following in her daily newsletter yesterday:
“Why are you picking on me? At least I committed my crimes openly!” is a fun flex.
Those voluminous documents are mine! I stole them fair and square openly and transparently!
quoting trump:
When will you invade the other Presidents’ homes in search of documents, which are voluminous, which they took with them, but not nearly so openly and transparently as I did?”
To state the obvious, he seems to forget he was asked if he still had these documents and his minions swore under oath he didn’t. That’s not “openly and transparently.”
And to continue with the obvious. the other presidents worked with the National Archives and followed proper procedure to store and secure documents; They didn’t just take shit by declaring it “mine, mine, mine” and hide it in their basement and then take documents out to show off to people.
Well, you’d expect the Archives to say that, wouldn’t you? Coverup! Deep State! /s
He’s also forgetting that he spent four years as President and appointed the the U.S. Attorney General, who failed to even investigate any of those former Presidents for all the documents they stole.
Appeal court dismisses special master! Big win for justice department.
Judge cannon is out of the case as is judge dearie. Appeal court did give trump’s team a bit of a slam of the door on the way out.
Here’s the full ruling.

That’s super news! I must search out the details.
And Lance Turbo provides!
They give the TLDR version in the first sentence…
This appeal requires us to consider whether the district court had jurisdiction to block the United States from using lawfully seized records in a criminal investigation. The answer is no.
Legalese for “don’t let the door hit cha”.
Just read the ruling. Thanks to @Lance_Turbo for providing the link!
That was… scathing. They spared neither Judge Cannon or Trump and his lawyers. I loved that they called the filing out for exactly what it was: A sideshow.
Well you see that leaves a lot of room for interpretation /s
“Commie liberuuulll judges. Deep State, I am the most unjustly persecuted President in the world for all history. Text your banking information to Trump, Inc. Stop the steal. Fraud, massive, redo the election. Just appoint me President for life.”
It’s great news. I just wish we, as a country, were smart enough to stop giving Trump these god damn breaks in the first place!
So, how long until he appeals to the Supreme Court, and they kick it back. I’m thinking a 48 hour turn around would be generous.
That ruling is one long burn. Love it.
I think this is my favorite phrase in the document:
“All these arguments are a sideshow.”
LOL, I know, right? My face nearly melted reading it, and none of it was directed at me!
