FBI Search and Seizure at Trump's Mar-A-Lago Residence, August 8, 2022, Case Dismissed July 15, 2024

What if you gave him a breathing tube?

It’s death or house arrest. Bastard ain’t never seeing the inside of a cell. Should start a predictions thread covering all his legal woes and his ultimate punishments, if any.

Probably, but a man can hope.

How about, a token amount of jail time, followed by a few months of Mara Lardo, and then he croaks. Make everybody happy.

Not if a pissoir was placed atop it.

I wouldn’t mind him being placed on house arrest in his apartment at Trump Tower in New York. It would be harder for him to get an audience and no golf.

I wonder, should he be convicted of anything, if they can bar him from social media? I’m sure he’d made a rousing
1st Amendment argument but aren’t regular felony prisoners denied social media?

If he’s in custody, they can certainly restrict his social media. If he’s not, it would be very unusual.

Well, hopefully, he’ll be in custody one way or the other. I think denial should be an unwavering component of his punishment. I suppose though, his rantings would grow so deranged and reality-free that even his most ardent supporters would be embarrassed and tune him out.

Since it hasn’t happened yet – and can his rants get any more deranged and reality-free? – I wouldn’t hold my breath.

doj special counsel convenes a florida grand jury in documents case according to wall street journal. this has just been announced on msnbc and has the talking head quite excited.

the main consensus is that this will be investigating those who moved the boxes in and around mar a lago. that it would be a crime that happened in florida, not the initial moving of the boxes from dc to fl.

this is separate from the grand jury in dc that is meeting this week.

Which, if it results in a conviction, would not be pardonable by a new GOP president. :grinning:

Though I assume it would be pardonable by a GOP Florida governor. :grimacing:

It appears to be a federal grand jury, in Florida. Not a Florida state grand jury.

If jurisdiction isn’t the issue in convening a federal grand jury in Florida for alleged crimes that happened in Florida, is it just the convenience for the witnesses?

Oh, duh. Thanks for the correction.

Reading between the lines, the federal Florida grand jury is being convened to hear evidence about potential crimes committed solely in the State of Florida, which leads me to speculate the proceedings are for possible co-conspirators such as Trump’s valet, Walt Nauta.

FWIW, noted former US Attorney Andrew Weissmann, one of Mueller’s lead prosecutors, just tweeted that in his opinion, Trump will be charged in DC. This week.

Weissmann is not given to hyperbole and has generally been quite circumspect in stating any absolutes. I take him at his word.

Jack Smith was apparently present at the Trump lawyer meeting at DOJ today.

An employee at Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence drained the resort’s swimming pool last October and ended up flooding a room where computer servers containing surveillance video logs were kept, sources familiar with the matter told CNN.

While it’s unclear if the room was intentionally flooded or if it happened by mistake, the incident occurred amid a series of events that federal prosecutors found suspicious.

Shhhhyyyyeeeeaaaahhhh. Nothing suspicious about that.

As luck would have it, Robert Hansen’s cell in the Supermax Facility in Colorado just became available. Seems appropriate that he was convicted of espionage over 20 years ago. I think that will make for a nice new home for The Donald’s remaining years as well.

Yes, unless he were convicted of something related to his online activity it would be rare to impose such a limitation beyond the time of incarceration.
