FBI Search and Seizure at Trump's Mar-A-Lago Residence, August 8, 2022, Case Dismissed July 15, 2024

This is all shining a bit of light on …

The President claimed Americans are flushing their toilets “10 times, 15 times, as opposed to once”

Classified documents will put up a fight !

Wouldn’t it depend on the nature of the indictment? If it’s for mishandling classified documents, yes, I imagine the facts are pretty well established once they’ve searched trump’s property and seized the docs.

But if they end up finding evidence to corroborate other crimes, or which opens up other investigations, then I can foresee some additional delay.

In my opinion, though, If all of this is just leading to an indictment for poor document storage (even though it’s similar to his haranguing of Clinton for misusing emails, and even though he was the person who signed the law making it a felony), it will fall flat, and Trump will come through relatively unscathed.

Unless it’s somehow salacious, I don’t see a trump document scandal being that impactful.

Thank you.

I agree, but I think there are lots more “spokes” that are going to lead to additional indictments having nothing to do with this spoke.

I do also believe there’s more to this than just serious mishandling of top secret information – which is bad enough, frankly. I think DOJ has established Trump’s willful intent to retain documents he knew he shouldn’t have. That’s very different than Clinton, and much more serious.

The death toll for Republican-inspired violence is now at 1.

It’s lucky that he wasn’t a better shot with that nail-gun.

“Full ham?” Dear lord, this is why i just can’t take cnn seriously as a news organization. This is an actual grown man, a professional journalist, an editor, someone who gets PAID to write about the United States government, using the term “ham” like he’s commenting on a buddy’s Facebook post about getting wasted at the beach yesterday

I join your rant, especially since I don’t understand the meaning of the term when used in this context. Never heard that expression before.

Rubio, McCarthy, someone, please step forward and claim your achievement!

I really hope somebody from SNL sees your post, and turns it into an SNL skit. It would be hilarious!

The term “ham” is a sort of outdated descriptor of an actor who “steals the spotlight” with an overly dramatic and heavy-handed performance. It’s not considered a compliment.

I assume that’s the context, unless someone has another theory.

I’ll add this one to the possibilities:

You’re probably right. It fits better than mine. I’ve never heard that one before, I’m old.

For what it’s worth, I’m sticking with my handwritten notes theory. Now I’m not normally of criminal mind, but I’m thinking one might want to write legally sketchy instructions rather than have them transcribed or sent electronically. -Mob type shit.
Obviously you would have them destroyed after the message was sent.
White House staff are trained to retrieve all documents for the National Archives. -This probably entails some sort of logging system. (also, possible insider).
If TFG took them to Florida, the National Archives might have that log and have a legal right to it’s contents.
They got all of the transcribed classified docs in June, he gave them up because he had to and because they are easily traceable. The only thing left might be the handwritten docs. -The most savory evidence because Trump thought he could keep them off the record and didn’t believe they belonged to .gov.
Could be a real wealth of information there.
Because after all, when you’re telling people to do sketchy stuff, some people are going to want to CYA and get it in writing.

I don’t think Merrick Garland would put everything on the line if the POTUS authority on de-classification was as grey as it seems. So I’m not buying the Top Secret recovery theory.

The pictures I saw of documents that he tried to flush were handwritten.

Which leads to the question that’s been asked here before; Why on earth would Trump keep notes like this? Potential blackmail for those who followed his orders?

I’m pretty sure this is what Chris meant in the article. Hard as a motherfucker. Which itself is a ridiculous thing to say in an article, but to use the term “ham?” Good grief

Agree.
But speculating that they were in the logs and the message that he was destroying official correspondence was a bad message to the masses.
edit: Looks like a coverup.

Like Trump cares about “bad messages” to anyone. His loyalists would not even believe he was destroying official correspondence if he did it in front of them at a rally.

Not ‘Hard-ass mother-humper’?

Late edit, but I don’t think a coverup story about destroying official gov docs would be ignored by the masses.
It doesn’t look good on your resume.

I’ve also never heard it before, but I can imagine “full ham” is a variation on the expression “whole hog”.
