Former president Donald Trump has now claimed that the classified documents found at Mar-a-Lago were “planted” in the boxes after they were obtained by the Department of Justice.
In a Truth Social rant, Mr Trump lashed out at Special Counsel Jack Smith on the morning of the former president’s arraignment at a Miami federal courthouse.
“This is the Thug, overturned consistently and unanimously in big cases, that Biden and his CORRUPT Injustice Department stuck on me. He’s a Radical Right Lunatic and Trump Hater, as are all his friends and family, who probably ‘planted’ information in the ‘boxes’ given to them. They taint everything that they touch, including our Country, which is rapidly going to HELL!” Mr Trump wrote on Tuesday morning.
Freudian slip?
Something tells me that Trump’s lawyers (those that stay with him) are not going to try this defense in a courtroom.
Are you implying that Trump and his stooges say one thing outside of a courthouse, but something else inside one?

I suspect the prosecutors will get something to stick. Couple dozen of them.
I think it’s dawning on him how screwed he is, that he will pivot so hard like this. This is so different than what he has said for over a year now. It smacks of extreme desperation to me. He’s no longer being defiant as he has been.
Going from “what I did wasn’t wrong” to “I never did it at all” would have to be a huge red flag for anyone who is hoping Trump is going to get away with this.

So now it’s, “I had a perfect right to declassify, lie, hide and move around many boxes of super secret squirrel documents that the corrupt DOJ planted in my golf club resort over 2 years ago!!!”?

In theory (or to play doofus’s advocate) someone could have just slipped in a few documents and salted the boxes with them.
Sure.
And it’s totally believable that when the DOJ came a’knockin’ 18 months ago and asked for their documents back, no one opened a single box to look and see WTF they were talking about.

I think he is saying they confiscated the boxes and THEN put classified docs in them.
Not sure it makes a difference though. Both are nuts.

And yet, when Reality Winner was accused of a much lesser charge under the Espionage Act, she was immediately jailed and held without bail. No word on whether she had travel restrictions imposed on her while in jail. So much for “justice for all”.
