FBI Search and Seizure at Trump's Mar-A-Lago Residence, August 8, 2022, Case Dismissed July 15, 2024

They’re spending all their reading time on Clinton’s buttery males.

he was reading from a teleprompter and then would riff on a line or two. i wonder about his attorneys, he said a lot of incriminating stuff last night, they had to have known what was in the teleprompter.

i’m sure he was read his rights during the arrest phase yesterday. does he not understand “can and will be used against you”?

seriously, is it any wonder he has difficulty with real non criminal lawyers.

Or if it can be used against him, period.

A bold prediction from me: before this is over it is going to get very ugly. The closer Trump finds himself to genuine consequences, the more unhinged he will become.
Bold, huh?

Trump has the right to remain silent, but not the ability.

Gonna call him Tater Salad…

I’ll just assume that Kevin was once locked in a bathroom for several hours before figuring out the lock was on the inside.

That’s how he was punished as a child.

Seems Pence is bailing. I wonder what he was promised? Trump trying to get him lynched wasn’t enough.

Aw, man. I never got an escape room when I was a kid.

Seems he actually read the indictment, unlike most of his other Republican colleagues, who seem content to remain ignorant.

Raiders of the Lost Ark cut scene.

(I really wish Discourse would let us embed videos. :rage: )

EDIT: Apparently you can link with a preview (but not embed) a video if you put a slash on the end.

Really? That just doesn’t seem right. You have a better chance of undermining the prosecution’s case by taking the absolute most sensitive stuff? Hmm.

Anthony Weiner got a shout out from MTG when she refenced his famous dick pics as relevant to why trump should be given a walk. I didn’t really follow the argument, but I assume it was compelling.

Or the Gov’t didn’t bring any of the highly sensitive charges for that purpose. Or more likely, they brought a mixture - highly sensitive to get the seriousness across to the public (the ones everyone talks about, but could be dropped if no plea deal/too sensitive to disclose fully) and lesser ones that the prosecution doesn’t mind going the distance.

To your point specifically, not necessarily. It depends on the Judge. For the more sensitive, I’d think you can generally get your point across with just a few words. Imagine a fully black redacted document with just three words, one of which we subbed in a new agreeable word that doesn’t detract from the original word too much: “[Country A] Invasion Plan”. I think that’s reasonable enough that a jury could still conclude the document relates to national defense information.

Supposedly they included the “Goldilocks” documents; not so sensitive that you can’t even talk about them, but sensitive enough to give an idea of the seriousness of these crimes.

Thanks for that. I just googled that, I hadn’t heard that term before. Definitely makes sense.

LegalEagle (should be cued up) made the comment that there’s 13 documents that weren’t listed in the indictment, suggesting that they’re too sensitive to be shown and/or that the party or parties that own the documents didn’t want to charge him.

Trump is now displaying the dangerous instincts of a cornered rat, providing an unnerving glimpse into a future where he may become more fearful and even more unhinged …

The ex-president, who tried to steal the 2020 election, accused President Joe Biden and a band of misfits and Marxists of election interference and of mounting a political persecution typical of a fascist or communist nation. He also falsely insisted he had the right to keep secret documents that were the property of the US government.

His remarks were among the most chilling and demagogic ever uttered by a major figure in modern American history.

That article really shows how bad things are for him.

His only real defense is to win the election and hope he can pardon himself.

But that means his campaign is about him. This will work for his MAGA cult but not for all on the right and definitely not for independents.

Also, it’s interesting to point out that this trial is going to interfere with his ability to campaign, because he’ll be compelled to make appearances at court when he’d rather be out trying to convince people to vote for him.

This is in addition to restrictions he’ll have on what he can say or do, or risk contempt charges.

I guess he probably shouldn’t have broken all those laws, huh?
