FBI Search and Seizure at Trump's Mar-A-Lago Residence, August 8, 2022, Case Dismissed July 15, 2024

He kept his golf clothes and shoes in boxes with documents?
He needs to get excuse advice from a second grader.
Or is he going to present a note signed “Epstein’s Donald’s Mother”?

This could very well be true.

Will the details of the voir dire process be made public? E.g., the questions asked in the courtroom, and answers, of the potential jurors who made it through the initial questionnaire? (Maybe even their initial questionnaire answers?).

As I said upthread, this is hoarder behavior. He can’t distinguish between what does and doesn’t have any value to him, and is shoving everything he can get his hands on into whatever space is available, higgledy-piggeldy, because “it’s mine” and he might want later.

Questions asked in open court are known, but rarely reported on. (not that interesting). In this case we’ll probably get reporting about those questions. The questionnaires are kept confidential (other than any questions asked about them during voir dire).

Thanks.
In other news, this (from 538) is disturbing, though not a total surprise:
“ According to polls conducted before and after Trump’s indictment on June 8, Trump’s support levels in both the primary and general election don’t appear to have budged, even though a large majority of Americans view the charges as serious.”

Some voters and elected officials claim they’ll change their mind (i.e., at long last stop supporting Trump) only if and when he is convicted in the stolen documents case. They’re either: 1. Lying (maybe even to themselves) — they’ll end up supporting him even after a conviction; 2. Haven’t looked at the evidence we all know about, and so don’t realize it’s a slam-dunk case (barring juror or judge shenanigans); or 3. Genuinely think the evidence we’ve all seen could justifiably point either way, and trust a jury to make a just decision. I can’t wrap my head around 2 or 3, so I think they’re 1. (Maybe a few are low-information 2 - they haven’t read even one paragraph past the headlines, during the past year-plus).

I do think it’s going to take some time to percolate down through the MAGA universe. Some will never see the reality. But others will, as they absorb the seriousness of this matter in terms of the grave threats to our national security and military.

I’m also a tiny bit heartened to note how Fox and some very MAGA mega-players have begun to go hard on him. There is (FINALLY!!!) a rising chorus about how grave this all is. It will have an effect, I think.

Epstein’s mother would be a far better recommendation than anything else he’s come up with.

A fourth logical possibility is that they’re positive Trump WON’T be convicted (some because they think he’s innocent, others because they know he’s so good at getting away with shit) — so they feel free to tell a pollster this*, while still maintaining their loyalty to Trump until their (or his) dying day.

*Perhaps because this helps them feel they are supporting our military and security.

Honestly, 2 is the only one that makes sense to me. Even the 1s, who are knowingly lying, have to realize that, if they want to promote a white supremacist fascist government who will suppress the civil rights of “those people”, there are candidates willing to do all of that, without Trump’s baggage. Why keep doubling down on the Trumpster fire? The earlier they jump ship to a less obviously awful candidate, the better their chances of winning.

I’m not sure they even care about winning. They care about owning the libs. They care about seeing the outrageous clown man making the libs angry. DeSantis or others in the running do not have that same ability.

Hell, these are people who literally killed themselves during covid, some of them because not wearing a mask or getting vaccinated would piss off the liberals.

Yeah, but those were the Number 2 people. I don’t imagine many of the people who knowingly lied about COVID were the ones doing the dying. It’s easy to spout off on social media about how you “won’t let the libs tell you how to live!”, and then actually isolate yourself from the Typhoid Mary types who are out there taking actual risks.

And this is why poor Mr Trump can’t find lawyers who are willing to put their own reputations on the line to defend him.

Is “I’m a hoarder” a legal defense? I’m guessing it isn’t.

Hey Donnnie! When a Fox host is calling you on your BS to a greater degree than a CNN interviewer, I think you are in trouble.

Makes me wonder what FOX’s endgame is here.

“I can’t find a lawyer.” may soon become Trump’s #1 delay strategy.

It’s like rats abandoning a sinking ship. And that’s only just barely an analogy.

“Rats leave stinking shit”

What happens if he just keeps firing and hiring lawyers to delay the trial?

If you CAN afford a lawyer but can’t get one would a public defender be assigned to the case (maybe with a price)?

I don’t think it’s a defense but I’m pretty sure it counts as a confession.
