When does her book come out?
EDIT: I was mostly joking, but it does list the book: “I’ll Take Your Questions Now: What I Saw At The Trump White House.”
I bet she’d still vote and work for him again.

No doubt. As long as the grift was large enough.
How else would she get material for her next book?
Considering how much of his base are enamored of conspiracy theories, they probably spin this as a positive. “The Deep State tried to keep all this secret, but since Trump has no respect for their “classified information” bullshit, he’s going to expose all the (Jews/Nazis/Pedophiles/Lizard People/Grey Aliens)!”
“Susie could put Trump away for years in just one minute of testimony to Jack Smith,” GOP operative says.
Important nitpick about the article tag line (Not DavidNRockies fault). In the article, it is specified that the GOP operative who made this statement was a “rival GOP operative” (probably from the DeSantis campaign) and so probably biased towards overstating the severity.
As I recall, she did come from the DeSantis camp over to Trump. But she was working for Trump at the time she became privy to the information.
I’m not talking about Susie herself, just the unnamed rival GOP operative who made the claim that “one minute of her testimony would put Trump away for years.”
Oh! I’m so sorry. I misunderstood. Carry on!
DJT’s co-defendant, Walt Nauta, pleaded Not Guilty this morning.
He is being represented by Sasha Dadan, a former public defender. Dadan unsuccessfully ran for the Florida House in 2018.
In this entire saga, of Trump’s whole time in office and everything afterwards, this is the person I understand the least. Of all Trump’s various hangers-on, he has the least to gain, and the most to lose, by staying loyal to Trump, and yet, here he is, setting himself up for serious prison time.
Charles Manson had followers, too.
Full stop.
Maybe he’ll get a tattoo of Trump’s head on his back, in the style of Roger Stone’s Nixon tattoo.
Maybe he’s hoping to make bank when he gets out by selling “prison tips” like G. Gordon Liddy.
His best shot at avoiding prison time is to
A) Delay his trial as long as possible, and then appeal a Guilty verdict with the help of expensive lawyers whom Trump is paying for, and then
B) when the appeals are played out, hope that Trump (or a Trump fanboy) is elected President who can then pardon him.
Otherwise, his goose is cooked. It’s the smart move. Or the least-stupid move.
No, the least stupid move would have been to rat Trump out as soon as he realized Trump was breaking the law. This guy has a military background. He knew you’re not supposed to fuck around with classified documents. We can believe other Trump bootlickers might have been ignorant of the rules, but not this guy.
The next least stupid move would have been to roll on Trump as soon as the government came calling. Rat out Trump, and take a plea deal. I’m sure he could have avoided prison this way.
That he did neither of those things is mindboggling to me.
Say what?
If Trump wins, Nauta may figure he’s in line for a cabinet post, maybe Secretary of State. So in his mind, there may be a big upside for continuing to stay loyal.
His miscalculation, as it is has been for so many others, is that Trump will reward him in the future for his service now. Of course, once Nauta is no longer useful to Trump, he will be disposable.
I’m curious about the attorney. From my perspective, she looks like she is within the range of ‘normal’. But in Trump’s time, these things can be deceiving. Notable that she ran as a Republican in 2018. Public defenders often hew to the left in their politics. Not all, obviously.
Here is a Salon article about Nauta, but also talks about others who got screwed over after thinking that being loyal to Trump would benefit them in the long run.
Nauta’s fate offers one more reminder of the perils that come with holding Trump close. If Nauta had reached out to the FBI himself and turned over all the evidence against Trump as soon as he understood what was going on, he wouldn’t be in this situation right now. Trump has an ability to convince people that supporting him will bring them power, or at least safety. But time and again, it turns out that the opposite is true: Keeping your distance from Trump means you remain outside the blast radius when his crimes and schemes inevitably blow up.
Personally, I think that it is the same mentality that you see with people who have a gambling problem. They see the possibility of a big score, and don’t realize the cost isn’t worth it. And when they’re losing, they keep chasing it, falling for the sunk cost fallacy. “I’ve come this far, if I turn on Trump now, everything I’ve done has been for nothing.” Just my opinion.
You’re making the mistake of thinking like a normal person here.
If Nauta’s gone far enough around the bend of MAGA craziness, he’ll spend a century in solitary before he’d ever give up the king to those evil scumbags in that corrupt D.O.J.
Also going for him by sticking with Trump is that the judge may decide to give Trump a laughably light sentence, in which case how can she then sentence Nauta to heavy time? I’m sure this is part of Trump’s sales pitch to Nauta–“Stick with me, baby, and I’ll have you farting through silk.”
Did you actually type this with a straight face?
“You had a duty to save Trump from himself, and you failed! OFF WITH HIS HEAD!!!”
