Fear my amazing windowblind hanging sk1llz

Before
After

So, when do I get my own home improvement show?

The tryouts for it are at my house, when I finally get around to getting some new blinds. Oh, and you have to hang curtains for the show, too, that’s mandatory.

ETA: You should know we’ve got some new unobtrusive camera technology, so it will look like nobody’s filming you at all.

You’ll get a decorating show when you glue fabric to each slat so that it makes a nice pattern when they are closed, or stencil a pattern in gold paint.

And not a minute before.

(Nice work!)

I was thinking more Bob Vila than Martha Stewart. Perhaps I should replace them with a set of antique rosewood shutters from a demolished lighthouse just off the shore of Maine.

I still have one more window to do, but it’ll have to wait for tomorrow as I am completely exhausted. That first one took almost half an hour. I had to put in nearly nine screws. What am I, a machine?

I was expecting a hilarious goofup or something; they look nice though, a big improvement!

Yeah, but do the drapes match the upholstery?

That’s terrible… lol (btw…It’s supposed to be carpet, not upholstery, but I guess that wouldn’t work in the case of bare floors).

Very nice. We need some new blinds for the kitchen windows. I tried to float the idea of vertical blinds (I’m sick of the horizontal ones, and someone always eventually breaks off the twisty adjuster thingamabob), or short curtains. Or maybe just a color besides green.

I had a house full of vertical blinds; throwing them out was much more fun than installing the God Cursed things.

What about Roman shades?

Boy, that brings back memories. Five or six years ago, my wife’s sister moved into a new house which had no window coverings, so one day my wife, her mother, and I bought a bunch of blinds and curtains, went over there while her sister was out, and did all the windows. Every single room. By the end of that day, I had done so many, I could hang a set of blinds in 3 minutes.

Hmm… seems like you have some leftover screws/brackets on the sill. Hope they don’t fall down on ya’.

I only looked closely because I used to sell window treatments at my last job… (the place that went out of business and closed forever) and was looking to see what brand. LOL!

Guilty! That one came with two center brackets, which the instructions instructed me to place slightly to the side of center. So I did so, only to find that I had placed one of them directly in the way of one of the cloth straps, so the header could not be slid in.

So I just took that one off, and am now riding high on the adrenaline rush I get from having only one center bracket! Mwahahahah.

The other window is done now too. It’s just a single-wide, though, so not nearly as exciting. And no center brackets on that one.

 Buddy! You’re living on borrowed time.

If I did it there’d be 12 extra holes, a bunch of scratches in the frames, and a pint of blood on the floor next to a broken window.

I hates hanging blinds…
