OK, because of the whole Travis thing (which I learned from reading your last thread), I decided to watch S3E1,2. And it was… pretty good! I was shocked. And S3E3 wasn’t bad, either. That whole dynamic with Madison and Evil Son is creepily interesting. If they keep up the writing at this level, I’ll keep watching. The scene in the cellar was hilarious.
I have a quick question. Sorry if this is a hijack. I only watched season 1, which a surprising snooze. I mean, my wife and I were bored with it and we like Walking Dead.
Did the show improve? Is it as good as Walking Dead at its best? At its worst?
Agreed. I’ve actually gone to Bible study groups that turned out that like (well minus the zombie head).
My take:
S1: Note very good, and gets worse as time goes on.
S2: Even worse. I stopped watching
S3: Wow, it’s actually pretty good!
I must say, this has been the most interesting season so far - way more intense and action packed than previous seasons.
In all honesty, I’ve been watching the show just to get my “zombie fix” in between seasons of The Walking Dead. The show has been ok…mildly entertaining and little fun, but this season so far has been a big improvement.
That was a great scene!
Especially because, I mean, what were we all thinking when they opened the trap door and told Alecia to go in first?
I’m curious about this as well. I only really watched S1 and part of S2. One of the things I found most disappointing about the series was how quickly it became The Waking Dead: West Coast. That is to say, I thought there would be more of a build-up to the collapse of society. In all fairness, from a budget perspective, I imagine it’s expensive to film hundreds of soldiers and scientists in MOPP gear on giant detention center sets and urban riots.
I wasn’t thrilled with the rapidity of the collapse, myself. “Soldiers and scientists versus zombies” would have been a fun theme! Add in some cowardly politicians and hideously-transformed undead celebrities, and it just might have been awesome!
Zombie Nick Nolte… but then, how could one tell?
Good point.
I don’t have much interest in any characters in the program, but I did have a tiny bit of hope that Strand would be dumped off the dam.
Damn.
They didn’t have to show us any more soldiers or scientist than they did. They could have saved the budget by having the characters watching the news on television or listening to the radio and showing the collapse from their point of view. The 2003 Dawn of the Dead remake did a better job of explaining the collapse in the credits than the entire first season of Fear.
