An arrival at the Ranch creates a divide; tensions run high as communities clash.

“Mid-season finale” tonight; when it comes back from hiatus I think I’m just doing to do one thread for the 2nd half of season 3. Kim Dickens, Michael Greyeyes, Colman Domingo. and a surprise cast member are on Talking Dead.

Well that was pretty fucking awesome! Madison’s past is way darker than I expected, Ofelia’s finally back, and Strand got to speak with a cosmonaut (who revealed nothing we didn’t already know; there goes the slim hope that the lights were still on in New Zealand).

Maybe you should just PM instead of opening these threads.

Haven’t seen the whole thing yet-- had to go to bed with about 1/2 hour left. I have to say that it seems like really, really sloppy writing to let the Ranch folk keep raiding the Indians without losing any people and to let them keep showing up at the gas station without repercussions other than a superficial forehead cut.

But the Ranchers sure lost a lot of folks to the anthrax attack. And good fighters, too.

Yeah, I already assumed that she had killed somebody, but her own father? That’s messed up!

I wonder if that would be written if Travis hadn’t died.

I’m kind of confused as to why Otto and Ophelia didn’t show any signs of recognizing each other. Or did I miss something?

Is this the way you saw it?

Nick shoots Otto.
Madison tells Nick to leave.
Troy and Jake show up.
The boys take Otto’s body and put it in the wooden coffin in the barn.
Madison sneaks into the barn and cuts off Otto’s head.
Madison delivers the head to Walker.

Some of those actions aren’t shown, but that’s what I presume.
This way Jake and Troy, don’t realize that Madison traded the Otto’s head for the ranch.

Yeah, that seems reasonable.

Finally finished watching last night. I’m not seeing how Madison could have cut off the head without the boys knowing about it. Wasn’t that the father’s body they carried out, wrapped in funeral cloth? Surely a missing head would be noticed, even with the cloth, no?

Otto was wrapped in a shroud and then his sons carried him out to the barn where the coffin was. He was buried in a coffin, probably as a sign of rank.

Why not attack the Indians that night, before they attacked the ranch the next day?
Why burn the Amelia? There are at the very least a generator, and a radio, things that will not be made again for a long time. Strand is a con man and an idiot.

Was Otto’s head replaced with the skull of Walker’s Father for the burial?
