Fed Ex guy won't drop off my Package at my apt clubhouse

It’s my iMac. And because I work regular hours have a security lock on my apt building, the delivery guy isn’t leaving it at the apt clubhouse either.

What’s the best way around this? If I knew he was coming, I could leave my office. I won’t know when he’s coming though. It will happen again tomorrow, and I’m out of town Saturday. When/How the hell am I going to get this?

I could try leaving a sticky note on the apt door? Has this happned to anyone else?

Have it delivered to the office?

That’s what I’m saying, he’s not dropping it off at the office. I don’t know why.

Call their 800 number and ask them to hold the package for you at the local FedEx warehouse, where you can pick it up at your leisure.

FedEx should have left a little note after the delivery attempt. Call the 800 # on the note to arrange alternate delivery.

I have gone to their distribution station to pick up packages. At mine, you have to go after 5:00 pm and before 8:00 pm.

Well, I had called earlier in the day and the woman told me that the drivers cannot be contacted and that leaving packages at apartment offices was solely up to the driver!!!

I called back and they were much more helpful – it does take 24 hours to request the package to be left at a ‘warehouse’ so the alternate option of writing a note on the door tag to please drop off at clubhouse should work, assuming he reads it.

I once went home at lunchtime, found a FedEx note, went back to my office and asked them to deliver it there, and had the package within the hour!

For future reference, I usually make all my packages get sent to my work. Makes everything a lot easier that way.

Same here. We have a couple pick ups and deliveries here, both FedEx and UPS, so it makes more sense that way.

FWIW - UPS charges less for a package sent to a business address, because they can almost always deliver it the first time.

Yep. I ordered a digital camera online, and since the seller required my signature for delivery FedEx wouldn’t leave it at the apartment’s main office. FedEx held the package at its local office and I picked it up on my lunch hour.

I should note that I didn’t find any delivery slips on my apartment door. Until FedEx left a message on my answering machine threatening to send the camera back to the seller, I didn’t even know that delivery had been attempted.

In my experience, you can take the Fedex attempted delivery note to the distribution center after 5pm and pick up the package the same day. That’s worked well for me, as the distribution center isn’t very far away and it’s open until either 6 or 7pm.

FedEx dings me about $1.50 for residential delivery on Ground service.

I can understand that the percentage of “no answers” will be higher on residential deliveries than those to businesses, so the extra buck-fifty kinda makes sense, but it’d be nice if they could waive that fee if I select whatever option it is that lets them just leave it at the door.

Call FedEx at their 800 number (800-GO-FEDEX, which is 463-3339. This is kinda sad that I have that memorized) and either have them re-route the package to your work adress or authorize delivery without a signature. Since it’s a laptop, I wouldn’t recommend the no signature option. This will be much, much easier if you have the tracking/waybill number for them. It should be on the door tag which the driver should have left after the attempted delivery.

That’s weird. When I send stuff to my brother, they drop it at the office and put a note on his door.

It depends on what the shipper specified for delivery options. On big dollar items like a laptop, they probably specified that a signature is required, so they can’t just leave it with someone else, or on the doorstep.
