By no means mundane: a federal census worker has been found hanged in Daniel Boone National Forest, with the word “fed” scrawled on his body. Law enforcement is investigating whether it’s an anti-government crime, or whether the worker stumbled onto a meth/marijuana operation, or both.
One academic who has studied that particular area was quoted: “Like any poor county, people are engaged in a variety of revenue sources,” she said. “Not all of them legal.”
