Looks like the focus is whether Rudy was acting as an undeclared Ukrainian lobbyist in trying to get the US ambassador recalled:

I saw a clip somewhere earlier tonight with Rudy on Tucker Carlson’s showing saying this explicitly, not implying. He was saying the warrant said the agents were to seize all electronic devices and he offered them Hunter Biden’s alleged laptop three times. Each time they declined and Rudy claims this invalidates the warrant. It will be interesting to see if he keeps shoveling this load of shit in court.
And sorry, I don’t have the inclination or energy to find a link to the clip at the moment. It should be pretty easy to turn up with a simple Google search.
Wasn’t Rudy’s story, back when anybody cared about Hunters laptop, that they gave the laptop to the Feds months earlier?
Perhaps, being a cheap and nasty person, he gave the Feds the laptop hard-drive and kept the chassis for personal use. MacBooks don’t come cheap…
So if the cops fail to take his ipod or smart TV, that invalidates the warrant? So they didn’t take Hunter’s laptop- NOBODY wants Hunter’s laptop. I guess the question for Rudy is, what are you doing with Hunter’s laptop?
My understanding is that the warrant was for all electronics belonging to rudy. Taking any electronics not belonging to Rudy was not in the warrant and therefore could not be taken.
Something still seems off about this.
If that constraint were true, then when the feds (hypothetically) come to bust me for electronic crimes that I’m (hypothetically) doing in my basement, I can prevent them from taking my stuff by pointing to my stack of evil laptops and stating loudly “THIS IS HUNTER BIDEN’S STUFF, NOT MINE, PLEASE FOR THE LOVE GOD RELIEVE ME OF THIS GHASTLY BURDEN AND PUT THE BAD MAN AWAY.” And then they can’t take it, because I said it’ s not mine!
This does not comport with my (secondhand) experience of what happens to people getting busted for computer crimes. The Secret Service just walks in and takes everything capable of storing information, down to post-it notes. Maybe later they’ll return the stuff they weren’t supposed to take, but probably not.
It’d be humorous if, after all’s said and done, what they ended up getting Rudy on is possession of stolen property.
Why would Rudy have Hunter’s laptop???
This ^ . My guess is Rudy bought a laptop, named it ‘Hunter’ and downloaded child porn on it.
I’m not so sure. Rudy was very outspoken to the media about how the election was stolen, yet when he went to court he was very careful to make it explicitly clear that he had absolutely no objection to the election results and was only making a legal objection to small nitpicks such as states counting mail-in ballots that arrive after the election date. He wasn’t spewing his batshit conspiracy theories where he knew there would be immediate consequences. That tells me that he’s cognizant about the fact that what he says is full of shit, and he’s playing the rubes like Trump did.
Now, I think that on top of that he’s completely incompetent when it comes to legal matters, which is why he had such a pitiful showing in court, it’s why he has gotten himself in so much trouble with his defamation lawsuits, and why he is continuing to dig a legal hole for himself.
No question Rudy is just babbling nonsense. I seriously doubt they said anything at the time to the federal agents about Hunter Biden’s supposed laptop. I wouldn’t even be surprised if the device(s) weren’t even in the apartment. It strikes me as simply a piece of misinformation to be spread by the Ttrumpist media in an effort to smear the Justice Department for coming after Ghouliani.

Yes, but Rudy wasn’t writing those briefs. Some hired gun was writing them, and that hired gun was delegating a lot of the work, except for a final polish, to unnamed associates. And they’re all actual, practicing lawyers. That’s how legal briefs are written.
So Rudy has gone completely off the rails, his craziness exacerbated (according to Michael Cohen) by heavy drinking. But he’s still smart enough not to just download his insanity onto paper and submit it to a court.
