I was going to start this in P&E but frankly there’s zero chance it wouldn’t end up in the Pit anyway, as you will see.
Also: Trigger Warning as the linked document gives details of sexual assault.
Short version: Former employee Noelle Dunphy has filed a legal complaint against Rudy Giuliani for “unlawful abuses of power, wide-ranging sexual assault and harassment, wage theft, and other misconduct”. The full complaint is now available online, and all I can say about it is holy shit, Rudy is an even worse person than previously suspected. Here’s the link:
Let’s have a look at the meat of the complaint here:
Rudy’s seduction game was noteworthy, to say the least:
I mean, there’s just so much there that I can’t cover it all, from Rudy representing himself in this case to Rudy downloading all his emails onto her computer including privileged client communications to asking Dunphy deeply personal questions about her sex life. You may also be shocked to discover that Rudy has a wee bit of a substance abuse problem:
During this time Rudy was also purportedly helping Dunphy fight her own domestic abuse case, showing off the legal talents that have made him what he is today:
(bolding mine)
He also displayed a remarkable level of sensitivity to a woman who was fighting to escape a violent and emotionally manipulative relationship:
(bolding again mine)
And…you know what - just read the whole damn thing. But here’s one more delightful snippet for you (trigger warning again for so many reasons):
Weirdly, what sticks in my head is the Margaret Thatcher thing. He hired Dunphy in 2019. Thatcher died in 2013. Why was he still wondering about having sex with her?
The OP says this is a legal complaint filed by a former employee. So surely what we are seeing is what she alleged he did. Have we seen any of the evidence yet, that any of these charges are true?
I am not defending Giuliani at all. I suspect he is (and was) at least capable mentally and emotionally of having done most or all of this stuff. But I wish to preserve some measure of outrage hygiene, and save my splutters for things that are more solid than allegations.
Well, the phrase “This was recorded” (or variations thereof) appears a lot in the document. One might assume that there are tapes to back up at least those claims.
ETA: Or video files. “Tapes” - Jesus, how old am I?
That’s a fair point. I’m so conditioned to known things about Giuliani that demonstrate he’s a pig (with apologies to pigs) that I really have no difficulty in believing in prima facie assertions regarding these types of allegations. But you’re right.
I look forward to (metaphorically) seeing the evidence. Literally though, I’ll pass, there’s not enough brain/eye bleach in the world. The puking would never stop.
The accusations strike me as entirely consistent with the Post-Trump Ghouliani, as does the clumsiness of the attacks - he seems to think that like Trump, he won’t be held accountable for anything, even if events tend to prove that Trump’s now-chipped amor of invincibility has only ever worked for him (at least in the short-to-medium term).
I do suspect though that the plaintiff is going to be SOL for recovery, because in light of RG’s many, Many legal woes, she’ll be stuck in a very long line of people with quite large claims to make.
And at this rate, even RWNJs aren’t going to give RG any money, nor is he likely employable even in RWNJ think tanks by now, as his multiplicity of failures and legal woes aren’t particularly attractive.
I didn’t read the PDF, but the things he asked her to do (disrobe on camera, ‘fuck him like crazy’ etc), did she do them or did he just ask?
I’m not, in any way, suggesting it was okay for him to say those things, I’m just curious as to how she responded to those requests.
Also, this “Giuliani promised Ms. Dunphy that he would give her $300,000 in exchange for her waiving her legal rights as against her abusive ex-boyfriend”
Did he really ask her to waive her legal rights against her abusive ex-boyfriend? Wouldn’t it have made a ton more sense for him to say ‘due to [reasons], I can’t represent you in this case anymore, you’ll have to find a new lawyer’?
When I read ‘waive your rights’ it sounds like he’s offering her 300k as a settlement on the boyfriend’s behalf.
Seventy pages are a lot! But Ok, take some points that stand out:
Once Giuliani’s email account was loaded onto Ms. Dunphy’s computer, at least 23,000 emails associated with the account, including many from before her employment with Giuliani, were stored on her computer.
Since Giuliani gave Ms. Dunphy access to his email account, she had access to information that was, upon information and belief, privileged, confidential, and highly sensitive.
For example, Ms. Dunphy was given access to emails from, to, or concerning President Trump, the Trump family (including emails from Donald Trump, Jr., Ivanka Trump, and Eric Trump), Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner, former FBI director Louis Freeh, Trump lawyer Jay Sekulow, Secretaries of State, former aides to President Trump such as Steve Bannon, Reince Priebus, and Kellyanne Conway, former Attorneys General Michael Mukasey and Jeff Sessions, media figures such as Rupert Murdoch, Sean Hannity, and Tucker Carlson, and other notable figures including Newt Gingrich, presidential candidates for Ukraine, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of Turkey, the Ailes family, the LeFrak family, Bernard Kerik, Igor Fruman, Lev Parnas, and attorneys Marc Mukasey, Robert Costello, Victoria Toensing, Fred Fielding, and Joe DeGenova.
Are those 23,000 emails now pubic record? Because I can not imagine that at least some of them do not disclose something illegal. President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of Turkey is particularly hot right now, the second round of the presidential election in Turkey is in two weeks. The other names mentioned in that list are interesting too, at least the ones I know.
I will put a link to the Schadenfreude thread, seems fitting. There could be a lot of Schadenfreude coming if this develops in the right direction.
Ms. Dunphy was frightened. She said she wanted to get dressed, unpack, and settle in. She asked for privacy. She said she would meet him in the living room when she was ready.
But Giuliani would not leave. He sat on the bed and pulled down his pants. The following screenshot from the film Borat: Subsequent Moviefilm depicts Giuliani acting in a similar manner to how he acted with Ms. Dunphy:
Giuliani then pulled her head onto his penis, without asking for or obtaining any form of consent. He held her by her hair. It became clear to Ms. Dunphy that there was no way out of giving him oral sex. She did so, against her will.
But, when can we get back to Hunter’s laptop as well as Papa Biden killing off an informant? And there is the recent Durham bombshell. And how can we forget Benghazi?
I think that’s pretty much exactly what he was offering her. They are working on the case against her ex, he’s getting tired of it and isn’t getting paid for it, so he offers her 300K to quit the case so they can spend all their time fucking instead of working on it (or at least he’s claiming to. In all likelihood he probably intended to stiff her (pun not intended)).
I hate to seem to be blaming the victim here (you go, girl!) but no one should agree to work for a sleazebag like Rudy without a pretty clear idea that they’re gonna end up screwed
