They can use whatever bathrooms they want in their homes. If a public establishment allows them to use a gender identity bathroom, they can use what bathroom suits them too. If it doesn’t, that’s too bad; no one is entitled to special privileges. They can just use the bathroom at their home.
Obviously Cameron would be much more at ease with having these very masculine appearing transmen use the ladies room. And if any pervy cis men want to slink in too, for nefarious purpose, why, they can claim to be biologically female and thus required to use the ladies room!
My mistake. I meant to say bigoted, not racist.
But let’s not forget that the objections to the “T” community come from the same sources and are framed in the same way as those that were used to argue against acceptance of the “LGB” community. Same fear mongering by unsubstantiated association with sexual predators and pedophiles.
Look, coloreds can use the bathroom in their own home. Why would you expect to be able to use a public bathroom- are you expecting some sort of special privileges?
Why should a black cisgender person have the right to use a public bathroom?
I’m not a bigot. People just throw that word around too much nowadays.
I understand that you consider this a pile-on because your views of the trans-gender rights are in direct contrast with those who have posted alternative views on the subject. Very well… let’s take a step back.
What are your views on discrimination against gays? I assume you are accepting of gays/lesbians in society and are comfortable with extending the same rights to them as to heterosexuals, yes?
Here is a beauty queen that would be forced into the men’s room- or told, look just pee at home.
Yes, I’ve worked with and known several gay students at my university, who are honest and decent people. While I believe in traditional marriage, I have no problem with homosexuals…
Do you believe that gay couples should be legally prevented from marrying each other? Do you believe that gay couples should be allowed to adopt children? Do you believe that children with gay parents should be taken away from their parents by the state?
This is pretty much identical to arguments for segregation. Why is using the bathroom that corresponds to one’s gender identity a “special privilege”? Do you believe it’s right that the people linked should be arrested if they use a men’s bathroom? Would you prefer they use the women’s room and do you believe they could do so safely?
I have no problem with gays adopting children if there’s no other option for those kids, although I believe that marriage should be an institution between men and women.
I only believe that gay parents should be separated from children if investigations have found them to be abusive and dangerous, same with straight parents.
Okay, so if you fundamentally agree that gays are entitled to the same rights as heterosexuals, why is agreeing that the same rights should be extended to trans-gender people a bridge too far?
ETA: I assume gay rights is not something you want to punt to states to decide, right?
ETA2: Would you be kind enough to respond to the questions about which bathrooms the folks in previous posts should be permitted to use?
I believe marriage is a fundamental, thousand year institution between men and women, and a large part behind it was for people to start families. Also, I already said they can use their home bathrooms.
So you or i have the right to use public bathrooms, but not the people pictured above? Should they not go out in public at all, lest an emergency develop?
How many marriages per person is acceptable?
I’m so glad you allow them use of their own bathroom.
So they should never leave the house? No shopping? No work? No school?
your question assumes that there are no places where transgender bathroom laws exist to allow people who are transgendered to use their favored bathroom. They do. And they can petition their local elected official if they want to change it.
I’m signing off for now, though, I’ve had enough vitriol for one day
So certain states will be off limits?
What happened to freedom to travel and equal protection?
Equal protection does not apply to non-persons.
Don’t quit now. These are the moments in life you actually learn something about the world and yourself.
Home bathrooms are no more relevant to this issue than they were for segregation in the mid 20th century.
