Ok, this is mostly for the ladies. And I can understand if you don’t want to divulge on this topic, but I have seen some photographs lately that have made me curious about something.

We all know that “every flower is different,” but I only have experience with my own. Naturally, I’ve seen the anatomy of other women, but this is the sort of question you don’t just ask a stranger.

This is regarding your clitoris and vaginal lips. Some vaginas are very compact, with the labia covering the whole clitoris and lips. Others are not as compact, with vaginal lips and clits that are quite large. I’ve seen these large parts and wondered what sex is like for women who are shaped like this.

I know you can’t speak as to what sex is like for you in comparison to what it’s like for others, but if you have larger lips, do they, um, get in the way? Or does the sex go swimmingly? Also, are you, or have you been, self-conscious about how large your vaginal lips are?

Men, how is sex different with a woman who has a compact one compared to a woman who has a larger parts? I’m also curious if the compact ladies are more conservative in bed and if the larger endowed (?) ladies are wilder. I’ve just always wanted to know.

This is very personal information, so please, no jokes at the expense of any ladies who would care to share.

I would also be willing to divulge personal information if anyone shared and then had a question for me. I don’t expect you ladies, and gentlemen, to talk about such things and then not talk about it myself. If we can keep this mature, I think it could be a very informative and potentially titillating thread.

I wanted to add, I have a link to a picture of some of these different flowers, but I am not entirely certain that we’re allowed to post such things on the SDMB.

Dunno about large clits, since I don’t have that problem (or blessing, if that’s what it is).

One disadvantage to having elongated labia is that they can actually get pushed up inside during intercourse. And that pinches.

I had to read your post twice before making the assumption you are referring to the labia-minora since both labia vary in size. Minora that extend farther out than majora don’t add or subtract anything (to me as a guy). There is folding of the inner lips during sex regardless of size so I can’t feel any difference. Lubrication is a another story but that’s easily dealt with.

I might not be using proper terminology. I refer to the outer part of the vagina as the labia, and the “flaps” around the opening the lips. It’s the difference in lips that I’ve noticed. Some are tiny, and some are very, very large. I really wish I could post that link so you guys could see where I’m getting this from.

What a wonderful question! I’m a photographer, and one of my heretonow wannabe projects has been to photograph female intimate parts (female BTW, so not a lecherous excursion), and match them with facial portraits, all done in Black & white, do my own printing. Haven’t had the huevos to do that yet; if someone knows of someone who has done that tastefully, please let me know.

The idea came about when I let another photographer friend photograph my intimate parts. Wow! Great black and white images, like Steichen’s flowers . Not pornographic at all, more like close up flowers. And, the analogy is so apt. He is a great photog, so everything was sharp and well-composed…but I really then saw the beauty of female intimate anatomy. Usually so bound up, in the dark…

I bet that the variation is as great as with faces, but it is the great unspoken beauty. You have made me want to re-explore this project. Thanks.

So, I know you say this is mostly for the ladies, but since guys are the ones that actually prolly have more, umm, face to face experience with differences, I’d like to hear tasteful commentary.

To be personal, too, I guess I’m regular, but will throw in that, at 40, them lips. prolly like ears and noses, get a bit larger. Nobody ever talks about that, so… let’s.

A male here. My one experience with a woman with very large outer labia was that it was more difficult to get her to come…less sensitivity? But there are so many other possible reasons that I have no idea if there is a correlation.

She had large, pretty lips on her face as well - I don’t know if big lips up top imply big lips below or not.

I’m confident every guy connected to the net has already done the research but if someone was confused by your description they might Google “the sexual anatomy of women”.

Can’t say I have a preference visually or any other way.

I was actually just talking about this with one of my friends. I haven’t seen hers, of course, but it seems from her description we have certain characteristics in common. I have large outer lips which cover everything else unless spread (manually for example). My inner lips are small and I guess my clit is about average. I have seen the genitalia of various other women and I find them fascinating. Some have neat, closed-in parts and some are more open. Very cool. I have never experienced any problems sexually due to my parts. Although I do worry about how they look, but I do that about all my body parts.

Of the women I have been intimate with, I’ve seen the full spectrum of…sizes I guess you could say. And personally, I didn’t find that part of the anatomy to have any crucial factor in lovemaking.

I have heard that labia reduction surgery is coming into vogue, where women go in to get the protruding edges of their labias lasered off :eek: and I’m guessing because most nude photographs of women depict women with rather compact genitalia. I haven’t seen any playboy pictorials with women that have huge labias.

I have heard of women who have labia minora so big that it gets in the way, and gets, uh, tangled up and pinches when the woman runs/walks/etc :eek: which would make sense to have the reconstructive surgery, but I think most women that do it are likely doing it for aesthetic reasons.

Honestly, I don’t have any particular preference, as Indygrrl has already said, the amount of variation between different women is as broad as the variation between people’s facial appearance.
