One of the differences I found most striking is in most of the before photos the women were tending to smile more, and with obvious feeling. And the way the held themselves as well, shoulders slouched down and forward, relaxed as opposed to the after pictures with shoulders back and tits thrust toward the camera.
Maybe it’s me but the differences made it seem that they were less troweling on a bit of makeup and more slipping on a mask. A bit like Tim the Accountant going home on the weekend, slapping on some greasepaint, and performing at a children’s party as Bungo the Clown.
I have been in Las Vegas at the same time the AVN awards were in town several times (it usually overlaps with CES, my convention) and even in full make up very few of these porn women looked attractive in real life. They seem to follow the formula of
more makeup with skimpier clothing equals sexy, but this is not universally true.
Reminds me of the TV docu-reality show that did a piece on Elvira. You know Elvira, right? Dark-haired vampiric mistress of the dark with a small waist and big hooters?*
Played by a blowsy redhead with a chubby face and a pair of floppers.
*Yes, I know she stole the act from Vampira.
Some of them looked like their makeup was covering up some pretty serious drug use.
I had forgotten how bad porn names could be; all those first letters that match on the first and last names.
One thing makeup does really well (apparently) is cover up really bad or blotchy skin tones.
Yeowch, some of those ladies look pretty bad without makeup on. (Granted, a lot of them STILL look bad even covered in layers of makeup - some stuff just isn’t fixable).
I’ve always been in the “look better natural” camp, but recently I’ve come around to the idea that “natural-looking makeup” still beats the pants off actually natural. Blemishes, pimples, ridges in the face that can be softened… all of this looks better with some coverup. It’s the same for any guy, too. But I’m still not a fan of the crazy amount of mascara or whatnot.
Eh, a few of them the “after” pic still left me going, WTF, folks today think that’s hot? Damn I must be getting old.
For some reason the media vernacular of the last decade+ decided to designate any and every porn performer as “porn star” even if all s/he does is bit parts or niche websites. I suppose they want to reserve the right to refuse to call them “actors/actresses/artists” but feel “performer” would be too blunt, “starlet” disrespectful, and “adult entertainer” not specific enough? (These stage names also drew mostly blanks from me, but I, too, quit paying as much attention to current porn some time back.)
Exactly. That’s what I was expecting from this thread. A “oh-my-god-that’s-hideous!” to hot thing, but, instead, it was (for most of them) pretty cute to “porno hot” transformation.
I didn’t see anyone who looked worse with makeup. The ones near the beginning mostly looked fine either way, while, for the latter ones, even if the result wasn’t all that hot, they still looked better than when they started.
I’ll admit that there was a definite change in aesthetic that might make me rather be around the pretty girls without makeup, but that’s because I’m more into “cute” than “hot,” not because the “hot” version looked worse.
Drat, I was hoping this was the list I had seen before. In that list, one of the women looked like she was having some fun with us. The before pic looked like Martha Plimpton from “Raising Hope”, and the after pic looked like a different woman entirely. Made me laugh.
Anyway, I’d say most looked better after, though some were overdone. It’s impressive what a good hairstyle and makeup job will do. Brenda Moreno wouldn’t draw a second look in everyday life, but she looks exotic and attractive when made up.
Most of those porn stars are wearing too much make up in the “after” pictures. Most of them look ugly before and after either way.
For example, Tori Black looks unappealing in those ‘after’ pics but I’ve never seen her that caked up in any of her videos (and I’ve seen quite a few). Most of her vids she’s quite pretty.
