Female porn stars without makeup and with (SFW) - Kind of interesting

They were hired for their acting ability. Duh!

Excuse me, there is only one not-so-good pic of Cassandra Peterson on this page.

And I’m not even linking to a page that has her 1970s Penthouse pics.

Awwwwwwwwwww yeaaaah.

Yeah, gotta agree with that. There are some porn stars that look good without makeup, but most of these don’t. At the very least, they mostly seem to have really bad skin problems. I want to buy them all a ProActive emergency kit.

You’re right, I’m sure they all grew up thinking “when I’m an adult, I want to have sex with people for money.”

I suspect getting them off meth might clear up their skin better.

Whoa, so different @_@

Why is it that we take for granted the fact that women now have the freedom to make career decision for themselves, unlike some of our mothers or grandmothers could.

But it’s OK to insult them for using that freedom to work in a profession that they have chose while alluding that they must be dumb or incapable of making a better decision.

If a man was making that statement, it would be sexist.

We can extrapolate from the statements of many other former sex workers.

I’ve read accounts from women in the industry which boil down to “Seemed like a good idea at the time, I realized I didn’t want to stay in it but now can’t find anything else and had to return because what else am I going to do?” Lack of marketable skills, social stigma, drug use, lack of residuals and other factors can make it hard to make a clean break. Even “retired” women often work in auxiliary roles such as photo events or private shows. It sounds like one of those industries that has a way of trapping people and I wouldn’t just assume that any given woman is “doing what she wants to do”.

That’s not a broad brush covering all women in the industry, just what I’ve read.

Heh, I can’t say I’d be dying to have my wife/daughter/sister/mother  working in porn. But it seems somehow condensing to say that these poor women are incapable of making informed adult decisions but if this was in any other industry, we’d be castigated for making the same comments.

I’ve only met one porn star (Bobbi Starr) and she is one intelligent, knowledgeable, together, driven woman and nobody’s fool. Not saying she’s the norm (she’s not) but some in the industry are doing what they want.

And as an aside. I never hear that the men in porn are too weak, dumb, or otherwise incapable of making intelligent decisions. There is a double standard here that we should fess up to.

I listen to Sirius radio and the sex channel has a talk-show with retired porn stars Ginger Lynn and Christy Canyon. They both sound very intelligent and not drugged up. And neither seems like they regret their career decisions.

Sure, society has a double standard. A former female sex worker may have a harder time than a male sex worker. While the double standard (or stigma in general) may be unfortunate, it doesn’t change its existence and impact.

I bet regretful, drugged up porn stars make terrible radio talk-show hosts.

Holy crap - this means they look that way on purpose!

Shodan

Some do know what they are doing. They tend to be the minority. I count - half a dozen - former strippers in my circle of acquaintence. I’ve come to believe “I am making a choice” is - in the majority of cases (read, every single woman I know personally) a lie they tell themselves so they can live with it and that they didn’t feel that they had other good choices, the financial reality, or their reality with their boyfriends, or their relationship with drugs, made this the only choice at the time.

We’ve had stripper threads, some including dopers that stripped and I really didn’t get the vibe that they were embarrassed or regretful of their decisions to perform or making excuses. One thread I put up (see second link below) had an assumption about strippers that did not pan out.

Ask the Stripper!

Are strippers almost always hookers if the money is good enough?
