I didn’t think your post sounded all that bad, but it did have an implication of a certain idea – “any woman can have sex anytime she wants; guys have to pay, monetarily or otherwise” – that is kind of a red flag. While there may be a kernel of truth to it, it doesn’t sound particularly enlightened.
To answer your question, I would guess that the reasons for sex tourism are probably pretty similar regardless of gender… it’s basically all arranged for you by people who know what they’re doing, and when it’s over, you’re gone – there’s no messy aftermath. Also I’m sure some people are turned on by the exotic aspect.
I admit I had no idea this was an actual thing. But now the pictures I saw on FB of an old friend from Catholic school’s unattractive Catholic mom and her hot young Jamaican boyfriend is making more sense.
Seems like a lot of trouble to go to. If I wanted to meet foreign men I could just go out in the hallway of my building.
But if you were not what is conventionally thought of as attractive, then how would you convince those beautiful young hallway dwellers, not only to have sex with you, but to tell you you are beautiful, dance with you all night, rub suntan lotion on your back and then leave you alone when you don’t want that anymore?
Y’all should visit Bali. Lots of foreigner/local hot young man combos. It’s part of what made Eat, Pray, Love somewhat believable. (Only somewhat as she managed to call Borobudur Hindu ruins!)
I do have a friend who has had two lovers there, but they were legit love situations with no financial transactions involved. For my tastes I would say that both guys were (I hate using this phrase) “out of her league”. I don’t know anything about a sex trade, but apparently the European look is pretty hot there, so when we’re old and ugly we might stand a chance there
Let the record show that I disapprove of female sex tourism. I also disapporve of male sex tourism and sex tourism in general. Its exploutation of poor young people and that is something which should be spoken out against, wherever it happens.

I’ve never understood why someone goes to a foreign country to patronize prostitutes, I recall there being plenty in the USA. Probably more racially diverse too in the USA.
I do recall reading an article about this kind of thing years ago. Considering that prostitutes in general are high risk for HIV and that most countries in Africa have significantly higher rates of HIV than most parts of Europe, it doesn’t seem very smart to be going there to sleep with prostitutes. I mean, it’s not like you can’t acquire a cute little boytoy in your own country if you buy him something pretty.
But it seems like elderly people just get really randy for some reason in their golden years. I remember reading an article a while back about the epidemic of sexually transmitted disease in elderly people because some of them take being free of the risk of pregnancy as meaning they no longer need to worry about safe sex and sometimes those retirement communities are actually quite promiscuous places for seniors.
