Field of Daisies (a Harnic RPG)

1600 - 1800 deg F looks to be the typical range for cremation fire while steel seems to only be able to get up to 1500 deg F. I really can find too much about how to destroy bone with fire. It might work though since I’m sure the forge can exceed the max steel temp.

It probably will.

The weaponcrafter’s name is Geoffry of Bek. He is not currently in his shop, by his two assistants are.

“Excuse me when do you expect your master to return? We have traveled here from Lord Mayald’s estate with an urgent matter that needs your Masters attention”

“He shall return by nightfall, unless the Baron needs his services longer.”

We need to guard the box. But if we’ve got an afternoon to kill, we should probably rustle up some food. Maybe one of us can go get a pitcher of ale.

“Would you mind if we stayed here out of the rain while we wait?”

Gered will go looking for some food and drink to take back to the party.

“Maybe I should head up to the Baron’s manor and see if I can get Master Geoffry’s permission to use his forge. I don’t think that waiting indefinitely is going to be our best plan if we want to accomplish our mission quickly.”

Couple of things:

Rustling up some food and drink is not going to be like going to the local food mart. You can either raid someone’s garden (ill-advised) or visit either The Rats Killer or The Scarecrow, the local inns.

The baron doesn’t live in a manor, he lives in a keep. I’m honestly not sure if one can simply walk up to it and knock on the door like one is asking to borrow a cup of sugar.

Gered will ask around to get the local opinions on the two inns.

  1. THE RATS KILLER (Staven of Tylar)
Size: 4 Quality: ** Prices: high
Popular with travelers. Staven makes a potent if bland ale. The bland food is offset by his repertoire of bawdy songs. He claims to have studied at the Harpers hall in Evael, but few who have heard his strange deafening rythmic tunes believe him.

  2. THE SCARECROW (Jon of Maelnkam)
Size: 3 Quality: *** Prices: low
Jon caters to local farmers, and travelers who prefer a more sedate atmosphere. His two attractive daughters work as barmaids, and are often sought after by would be suiters. Both are devout Peonions however, and to date none have been successful.

Head for the locals bar? Even though we’re travelers, I think I should be able to get us welcomed.

I’ll stay here with the box. I wouldn’t want to take it into any kind of public place.

Gered agrees that the locals bar is probabaly a better choice. He’ll go with anyone who wants to accompny him. If Brunis (and anyone else) are staying behind, we can bring some food back for them.

“I think I’ll be staying as well, we’ll want to get to work as soon as possible and I don’t think that we need to be traipsing around in public if we can avoid it right now.”

Ingmar is back and ready for action- Bork bork bork!
He’ll stay with the box and protect it with his Axe. And perhaps Peddle some toys if someone should seem curious to why people are just standing around a box…

Gered and Cella head for the Scarecrow, then. This is the place you stayed the other night.

“So . . You guys been making weapons long?”

Stan says “Another four months and I’ll become a master, I hope.”

Ollie says “It tried making me first one yesterday. It didn’t go so good.” He shows you the fruits of his efforts. You try not to bust out laughing.

Gered and Cella arrive at the inn, chat up the owner a bit, and get some cheese, bread, pears, and ale. To go.

We’ll head back to the weaponsmith’s shop.

You’re there. After another hour or so, the smith Geoffry arrives, carrying a broken broadsword.
