Field of Daisies (a Harnic RPG)

Long story short - five others are boring drunken morons. But a party of six has a more or less common goal of going to Falketh.

One does not need a spell. Beer and hookers do the trick.

Gered calls over one of the staff (probably the one who seems the most in charge around here) and introduces himself as a merchant and asks if there is a mercantile district/guild in town, or if not, the closest thing to it. He also asks if there’s anyone in particular who oversees the trading in town.

There are a couple of mercantylers in the town, but no guild hall. Fancy another ale, mate?

Symon ask the waitress for another ale and the price of a room. Since its getting late and the earlier they are on the road the more time they have to spend in Falketh. He also starts wondering about his faith and if switching over to Halea will help his prospects.

Does Ritual: Peoni 13 let me do anything?

Unless there are cultural objections, my shield is round and has Ignotum per ignotius writting around the top edge. If anyone asks, I’ll say it means “Because I said so.”

I’m a bit gruff and taciturn. I’ll sit near Ingmar and let him do most of the talking. I’ll be sitting against a wall, watching the room, nursing an ale and trying to put off buying a second as long as possible without drawing comment. If it’s cheaper to sleep in the common room, I’ll do that.

How much does a decent horse usually cost?

A private room costs 6d per night (a d is a silver penny, or pence). Common room accomodations are 1d per night. A horse can cost as little as 360d, but go up dramatically from there. A trained warhorse can cost ten times that.

A ritual skill of 13 won’t do much for you. Basically you know the Lord’s Prayer, how to take communion, and the very basics of the theology.

Can you make a list matching characters and players?

Yep.

Pleonast - Cella, Peonian priestess
Yllaria - Brunis, man at arms
Oredigger77 - Symon, metalsmith
Hoopy Frood - Gered, mercantyler
Jimmy Chitwood - Eren, chandler/scribe
RoOsh - Ingmar, seriously ugly toymaker from Orbaal

Upon hearing that there is no guild hall, Gered adds a mental “…for now” to the end of it.

“Sure, I’ll take another. So what do you know of the various mercantylers. Any of them looking to expand their business?”

Gered looks a bit happier at this point. Knowing that there is no guild pleases him. Although it can make it harder to find other merchants, it means he doesn’t have to deal with any official regulations or go through official channels, and might even be able to establish an extension of his guild in this town–which he can be the head of, natch.

I’ll chat with wenches when they’re not too busy, in a sisterly way. Try to catch any local gossip. I’ll banter with local men–I like the attention, but don’t want to lead any of them on. As always, I’ll slip in hints (to the wenches and men) about the benefits of settling down and starting a family, without being pushy about it.

When it gets late, I’ll see if the wenches will let me spread my bedroll in whatever flop room they use. (The accommodations are a little pricey.) Otherwise, I’ll seek a quiet spot where the proprietor won’t hassle me (storage room, stable, etc).

I swear I was looking at some fanon earlier today, but the site is now 404 Not Found. Grrr…

I remember that one merc is named Patsi of Klynn, and the other was… Nyll of Dyamond? Gotta love that fanon.

This is a fairly small village, and it would be difficult to support a guild hall here. Patsi pretty much dominates the trade here and tends to crush the competition. Nyll barely makes a living. However, considerable trade comes though from Noron’s Way (map, look towards the north) that the merc guild makes a killing every year. It’s not the biggest trade route in Kaldor, but it generates considerable coin.

The five men leave, leaving the six of you together. It’s getting late.

I’ll mumble a quick, “stretch my legs” to Ingmar and head out to walk a circle around the village before coming back to bed down. I’ll be taking my Awareness 48, Foraging 56, Survival 56 for a general stroll, looking for anything out of order or that can be collected for use later.

I am definitely not talking about stealing. Berries in someone’s yard are out of bounds, but berries in a ditch could be added to breakfast, kind of thing. In the past I’ve occasionally found gnarled sticks that Ingmar could carve into toys.

If Peoni requires any end-of-day rituals, I’d do that while out.

Pretty much everywhere you walk is someone’s garden or field. You’d have to go pretty far out to find anything. There’s a moon tonight, but it’s still pretty dark out there.

Who’s sleeping in the common area and who’s getting a room? And is there any attempt to chat up the strangers?

Symon is just going to curl up near the fire and sleep in the common room after finishing up his ale. Since he isn’t going to find a master in this town there is no reason to talk to people he won’t see again.

I’ll talk to both of them tomorrow and get a feel for the strengths of each. I can probably get a better deal through Nyll, since he’ll be more desparate, but Patsi is less apt to go out of business.

For now, though, I’ll sleep in the common room.

Nyll’s name is actually Jaxon of Braun.

The site came back up.

Just a general stroll, then. Then sleeping in the common room with no chatting.

I’m sleeping in the common room unless Cella wants to go halfsies.
I want to chat up anyone and everyone before they go to bed. If Cella’s the only one I know, then I’ll greet each of the rest in turn.
