The religion post, once again:

I should make an effort to educate you about religion, as it’s pretty important.

There are very few atheists in Harn. Heresy is a high crime, and torture or death is a common punishment. Believing in the wrong god - or no god - often results in this.

There are several gods commonly worshipped. Note that not all people “believe in” all of them, and very few worship more than one. In Kaldor, worship of some of them is considered heresy and is punishable by death. Other kingdoms may differ in this. All of you worship gods, to whatever extent you wish (save for Cella and Eren, who are ture believers), that are either tolerated or encouraged.

Look at your ritual skill to see who you worship.

The gods you know about:

Larani: Goddess of chivalry and nobility. This is Kaldor’s official religion among nobles. The Archbishop resides near the capitol city of Tashal.

Peoni: Goddess of poor farmers. Goddess of fertility, though unmarried sex and clerical sex is strongly discouraged. Clerics are known for their skills in healing. Some believe that Peoni is Larani’s mother. Kaldor’s Mother Superior is the king’s niece.

Save K’nor: God of knowledge. Followers tend to be librarians, scribes, or students of the arcane arts. Tolerated.

Halea: Goddess of commerce and carnal pleasure. Clerics are always female, and services tend to not invlove much clothing. Popular among mercantylers and lonely businessmen. Tolerated.

Sarajin: Viking god of war. Very male-dominated. Females are usually considered chattel unless they are virgins and undefeated in battle, in which case they are reveared. Polygamy confers legal and social status. Tolerated. Barely.

Agrik: Evil god of fire and torture. “Blame the Victim” is holy writ, as the weak deserve neither life nor respect. Agrik and Larani are (im)mortal foes. Banned in Kaldor.

Morgath: Evil god of chaos and the undead. Believers wish to raise an army of the dead and engulf all of Kethira (the world) in chaos and evil. Banned in Kaldor.

Ilvir: Weird “hippie” god of strange monsters. The only god who is believed to actually reside in Kethira - on Harn, in fact. Believers tend to be unwashed, disorganized, and “a little off.” Tolerated. Barely.

Naveh: Evil god of assassins and thieves. Unpopular, fortunately. Banned.

Spells and Rituals that you know:

Peonian rituals (Cella):

Belsirasin’s Tears

Chance to invoke: 22%
Time to invoke: 12 seconds
Range: 15 feet
Ritual: Silent prayer
Duration: 10 or 30 minutes

Causes one subject to shed a tear for every lie told.

Tiralla’s Cure

Chance to invoke: 17%
Time to invoke: 12 seconds
Range: Self/Touch
Ritual: Prayer/Meditation
Duration: Instant healing

5 or 10 healing rolls. Healing rolls are distributed among ailments/wounds at the invoker’s discretion. Failures have no effect.

Note that in extreme cases, healing may increase the rate of infection, shock, or poisons, and may kill the patient.

Savoryan (mind or brain) spells (Eren):

Perfection of Sif

Chance to invoke: 43%
Time to invoke: 31 seconds
Range: Self
Procedure: Silent chant and small gestures (bigger and louder increases chance of success)
Duration: 4 hours

Increases eyesight, hearing, or smell (nose, not armpits!) for duration. All related skills are increased accordingly.

Aftereffects: The attribute returns to normal (50% chance), improves permanently (16% chance) or decreases permanently (33% chance)

Violet Eye

Chance to invoke: 43%
Time to invoke: 11 seconds
Range: Self
Procedure: Silent chant and small gestures (bigger and louder increases chance of success)
Duration: 1 question

A self-enchantment for divination. Allows caster to ask one yes/no question of the GM. Does not reveal arcane secrets, does not predict the future.

A failure of this roll might reveal false information. A good (but not totally successful) roll might lead to more questions.
