Grand Hotel
A Touch of Evil
Those are the two I want to see that I haven’t.
Grand Hotel
A Touch of Evil
Those are the two I want to see that I haven’t.
Lawrence of Arabia
Easy Rider
But I have seen most of the films mentioned here. What does that say about me? A true fan of the genre, or just wasted tuition nodding off in Film Aesthetics 110?
I have not seen:
The Wizard of Oz
any of The Godfathers
Dr. Strangelove
Casablanca
2001
Raging Bull
any Rockies
Fargo, most Cohen brothers movies
Akira
Ghost In The Shell
any Dolph Lundgren movie (excluding He-Man)
I’ve never seen Clockwork Orange. I don’t know if I want to see it either.
Citizen Kane
20,000 Leagues Under The Sea
City Lights
Chinatown
This Is Spinal Tap
Lawrence of Arabia
Raging Bull
I’m sure there’s more but those are the ones I thought of right off the bat.
[sub]I had just gone on a binge to see a lot of movies that previously would have been on this list about 2 months ago. GWWTW was okay, I loved Casablanca and The Seven Samurai and enjoyed the heck out of Dr. Strangelove. THe Caine Mutiny is a great story too, for anyone who’s not seen it.[/sub]
Never watched Barry Lyndon all the way through. Watching that movie, even a history buff will be saying, “Wow, the recreation of detail in this is amazing! So many scenes shot by candlelight! And the sets! [Looks at watch.] Jesus – two more hours!”
Have never seen The Third Man, even though I’m an Orson Welles fan.
Thanks, Ukulele Ike!
This really is the only one that I am truly surprised by.
I confess I have never seen Casablanca. However, I have to add that I have seen scenes from Casablanca, and based thereon made [sub]maybe unjustified[/sub] conclusions that said movie is sexist. I dunna know. The scenes I watched seemed that way to me…
The Usual Suspects
Fight Club
Reservoir Dogs
Pulp Fiction
any Kevin Smith film except Chasing Amy
Disney’s Beauty and the Beast
Braveheart
No movie is so important that you should feel embarassed about missing it.
Marc
To be frank, I haven’t seen about 1/2 of the movies you people have listed. However, since many more people have not even heard of some of my favorite movies (many of which are here and even moreso
here ) I don’t feel embarrased about.
But…I’ve never seen ** It’s a wonderful life** (hangs head in shame)
Star Wars
Sound of Music
Those dinosaur movies with Jeff Goldblum
Hey Elfkin, at last! I’m not alone! (shame lifting, sobs ceasing… )
However, I also notice that many of my favorite films are conspicuously lacking. Perhaps it’s all relative after all… one person’s cinematic masterpiece is another’s celluloid tripe.
Movies I really need to see:
Casablanca
Citizen Kane
Schindler’s List
Blazing Saddles
A Christmas Story
Most Hitchock Films, like Vertago, Rope, Psycho, North By Northwest, ect.
I’m not embarrassed by any of these, but there are several movies I’ve never seen, that I plan to.
The Deer Hunter
The Omen
North By Northwest
Butch Cassidy And The Sundance Kid
The Night Of The Hunter
Trainspotting
This Is Spinal Tap
The Sound Of Music
Henry V
The Seven Samurai
The Hidden Fortress
Wild Strawberries
Reservoir Dogs
Some movies that I’ve seen bits of, but want to see the whole thing.
The Godfather
Sunset Boulevard
The Good, The Bad, The Ugly
The Lion In Winter
Amadeus
Unforgiven
Shakespeare In Love
Assuredly many, many more.
Citizen Kane
Godfather (Although I am getting the box set pretty soon.)
Pulp Fiction
I bet if you would know River Phoenix…Being dead for so many years would probably make him noticeable.
[/hijack]
Citizen Kane ( I really need to rent that movie)
Plato? Aristotle? Socrates? Morons!
