Films that you are embarrased you've never seen

Here are mine:

The Empire Strikes Back
Return of the Jedi
Casablanca
Raging Bull
Any Kurosawa film
Rear Window
Yes, yes, there is simply no excuse for this. I promise to remedy this soon. Confess here, and your sins might be forgiven.

I haven’t seen these:

The Godfather trilogy
any Hitchcock movie (except north by northwest which i loved)
Taxi Driver
Raging Bull

I’m…so…sorry :o

Good for you. Though I’ve seen “Ran”, and 2 of the others.

I haven’t watched any movie made in the last 10-15 years, with a handful of exceptions. Never seen “Titanic”. Never seen all those movies that start off with “Deadly” “Fatal” “Basic” and end with “Instinct” or whatever. I wouldn’t recognize all these stars with dumb names like Bradd Pitt and Pheonix Rivers (or Rivers Pheonix??) if they came up to me and said Hi.

I’m pretty sure you’re missing nothing. Better still, I only switch on my TV once a month or so, and that’s to watch a video. **Turn off, Tune out, get real. Read a book.

“On the Waterfront”
“Citizen Kane” (tried it twice; fell asleep both times. I’ll never know what Rosebud has to do with anything)
“Schindler’s List” (sorry, life is depressing enough)
“Midnight Express” (ditto)

Forgive me Director. It’s been four months since my last confession.

I’ve seen the rubbish third Godfather film, but neither part 1 or 2.

The Long Good Friday was on tv last night but I still couldn’t be arsed to watch it.

I’ve seen the first hour or so of Seven Samurai at least three times but never managed the whole thing.

I’ve only seen a few minutes of Platoon and none of Full Metal Jacket.
Alex B

River Phoenix should be easy to recognize as he would likely be the only walking corpse around. And I know this is trivial, but I imagine that was his real name (at least surname) as his brother’s name is Joachim Phoenix.

No clue if Brad Pitt’s name is real or not. Oh, and I never switch on my TV. Unless it’s to watch movies I bought.[/hijack]

I’ve never seen the Godfather trilogy.

I’ve never seen Caddyshack.
Or Stripes
Or the Godfather
::sobbing into hands::
jar

A surprising number of Godfather entries for so short a thread…

I’ve never seen

Gone with the Wind - all the way through
The Bicycle Thief - apparently classic Italian Cinema
Dr. Strangelove
Dr. Zhivago

and no doubt tons of others…

Out of respect for the new toy living at my house (Toshiba SD-1700 DVD player, just like Consumer Reports recommended), I was looking over IMDb’s top 250 films and was pleased to discover that of the top 25, the only ones I’d never seen were Lawrence of Arabia and 12 Angry Men, and that includes the two I had to look up because their titles were given in the original language!

Citizen Kane
Casablanca
Schindler’s List
Deliverance (I know all the jokes and the ‘scene’)
Hitchock movies
Woody Allen movies (all but Mighty Aphrodite)
James Bond movies
Alien Trilogy
Terminator or T2

I’ve never seen E.T. or Titanic. I must point out that I am in no way ashamed for never having seen them, it just surprises many people.

I’ve never seen any of the Star Wars movies or any of the Lost Ark movies. I am not particularly embarrassed by that.

I haven’t seen that movie Life is Wonderful, or whatever it’s called. I wish I could, but I think I would feel too sad.

The only Fellini movie I’ve ever watched is the SATYRICON, which I saw on my first acid trip back in 1978, god knows why. Kinda turned me off Fellini, but I still feel guilty about ignoring him. Actually, I’m pretty deficient in ALL Italian cinema; never seen THE BICYCLE THIEF either.

I’m also bad on Ingmar Bergman…just THE SEVENTH SEAL and WILD STRAWBERRIES, I think.

I’ve never seen Fight Club.

Don’thurtme!Don’thurtme!Don’thurtme!Don’thurtme!Don’thurtme!Don’thurtme!Don’thurtme!Don’thurtme!Don’thurtme!Don’thurtme!

aiiigh…

Silence of the Lambs
Fargo
Amadeus (I saw it when I was like eight, but that doesn’t count)
Annie Hall
Reservoir Dogs
A Streetcar Named Desire
Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back (this is only embarrassing because I am a die-hard Kevin Smith fan, I just haven’t had time to see this one! :frowning: )

Believe it or not, you aren’t missing anything. I’m gonna smack my boyfriend the next time he insists upon watching that movie for the gazillionth time. It’s not that deep or that interesting, IMHO. It’s good, sure, but not that good.

::waits to be crucified::

Any Fellini movie except “8 1/2” (but I loved it)
Godfather 2
The Deer Hunter
Lawrence of Arabia
Dr. Zhivago
Close Encounters of the Third Kind
Raging Bull
Casablanca

Since you haven’t see it you must not know: “You do not talk about Fight Club!”

Gone with the wind (tried several times)
Casablanca (ditto)
Any James Bond film
Anything with Charlie bloody Chaplin (yes that IS his real name)
Metropolis
The Searchers
Stagecoach
Its a wonderful life

And many many more.

I can’t believe you beat me to it.

Well, aren’t you special?

My list:

Godfather II & III
The Philadelphia Story
Cool Hand Luke
Spartacus
Lawrence of Arabia
Planet of the Apes

And many others, I’m sure, that I can’t think of right now…
