Cracked.com has made a compelling argument that Idiocracy is practically idyllic compared to what modern-day Americans are doing - at least the stupid people in Idiocracy have some sense of how stupid they are; when their system identifies the average-to-us-but-supergenius-to-them Joe Bauers, they immediately give him a cabinet post in the hopes he’ll fix their problems. The arrogant stupidity that now threatens to prevail in the U.S. marked by utter contempt for (relatively) smart people.
