Finally - a real job - in my field!

Well, after I left active duty with the Army, I came back to the US and began el gigundo job search. During the search, I drove as a courier to make cash (not too bad…pulled in enough to pay all the bills without having to use any credit), so I wasn’t unemployed. Still, with a degree from a top-notch school and years of Army experience as an officer, it was still hard to find a niche.

So, finally, I am employed in a thinking position. In a bit less than two weeks, I begin work as a mechanical engineer. Interesting, as my degree is in Electrical Engineering, but I figure cross discipline experience will be invaluable for future jobs (including engineering project manager, etc). Plus, I haven’t done any EE since college, so it really didn’t matter.

Needless to say, I’m quite pumped to begin using my brain again.

Congrats!

FWIW,NM Tech offers a masters degree (which I’m pursuing now) in engineering project management. I’m about 1/2 way through it, and the courses are very intuitive and will be useful in the future.

Congratulations. Wishing you luck and joy in your new career!

Congrats! Knock 'em dead!

Glad you’re back, thankful you served, and happy to hear you’re employed!

Congratulations! throws confetti

Aaaah yes, that is always so nice!
