Finally, finally, thank you Dopers! (long trip involved)

So, to begin, I have been trying to immigrate to the US of A for the last 3 years in order to live with my fiance, now husband. Various visas fell through. We finally decided that we were ready to get married and applied for a K-1 visa (meaning that he’s bringing me in as a fiancee). 12 months later, I am finally here. We had the wedding in July! argh. But I am loving the Georgia weather!

On our trip to Montreal to visit the US consulate, my Ma and I had the pleasure of meeting detop, Laurange and the nefarious scott evil. detop was described by my mother as the perfect guide to Montreal - he seems to know where all the REALLY interesting stuff is. Laur and scott are both sweeties - I can’t wait to see all 3 of them again. I am as glad for the chance to meet them as I am for getting my visa  and I know there’s a Dopereal somewhere in my future.

On our long drive down to the south, GingeroftheNorth and Weirddave extended the hospitality of their house to my brother and myself. Ginger gave us a ton of food to take with us (the sandwiches were very nummy! and the cookies were very good as well) and Dave gave my brother an upside-down margarita  I owe them both bigtime. Thanks you two

I can say that my recent life has been made much more interesting by simply meeting dopers… maybe this means I need to get out more? Love ya’ll!

Hey, good luck with the INS. Hope you avoid the problems I’ve had with the ChinaWife. Congrats by the way

Welcome to the US after your long struggle, and good luck to you!

Thanks you both!

(Ferret Herder, hmm? Sounds like a rather obscure practice…)

Welcome the US and welcome to Georgia. Don’t worry, we’re mostly harmless.

 :o

You’re welcome. I guess everything went well at the consulate then ?

Say hey to Zeke for us. Y’all come back and visit sometime.

Yes, detop, all went well… mostly  still a few minor wrinkles that I hope are nothing to worry about.

Ginger, I have informed Zeke that you have asked him to report at the SDMB immediately

Damned right! We’ll get that boy some learnin’ and an American wife in no time!

More like hectic and fruitless. I own a couple of pet ferrets, plus I’ve heard the colloquialism “as pointless as herding cats” before. Swap out the willful cats for hyperactive ferrets and this is what my life is like on occasion.

You were more than welcome. Now how 'bout some pictures of the cats?
