I applied for a job at the Department of Public Instruction that that requires a computer skills test, in addition to a civil service test that you had to take to be eligible to apply.
They invited 24 people to take the test. 12 accepted. 6 of them cancelled in advance. Only three of us showed up to take the test.
It was timed and rather difficult (for people like me who are proficient in Office 2003 but have never used Office 2007). I finished and left with less than 5 minutes left to go, and the other two were still working with somewhat desperate looks on their faces.
Next there will be an interview for those who did well on the skills test, which I’m sure I did. So not only will I get an interview, I could conceivably be the only person they interview.
