Finals Game 5. Lakers Pistons. Is it over tonight?

I think the lakers will win tonight. I also think they will win the series in 7 games. I hope it ends tonight. But I don’t think it will. What about you?

You seriously think that the Lakers are going to win the next 3 games?, I am curious what you have been smoking!.
Kobe has not been a factor yet, Malone has not been a factor yet, GP has not been a factor yet, so effectively the Lakers have been playing with 2 starters, I think that the Fakers will probably win tonight and the series will end in L.A (that would be too sweet to see the Fakers get beaten for the last time at home!!).

Go Detwat city!!!

Unclviny (who loves the fact that the Fakers have their own rules and still lose)

The Pistons have something to prove; the Lakers have nothing left to prove. The Pistons are playing to win; the Lakers are playing not to lose. There’s blood in the water, and the Pistons can smell it. Strong defense beats strong offense, and defense wins championships.

. . . hmmm. . . I’m running out of sports cliches. Let’s put it this way: I’m from Detroit, I want the Pistons to win at home, and since I’m the center of the Universe, It Is Over.

Granted, that doesn’t explain what happened to the Wings this year. Or last year. Or the Tigers every year since 1985. . .

Unless I am mistaken, no NBA team has ever won a series it trailed 3-1.

The Lakers have gotten their heads handed to them so far. I see no reason to believe anything will be different tonight. The Pistons will hoist the trophy.

It’d better be over. Flint could severely use the coolness that it will leech off of Detroit if the Pistons win it.

It should already be over. LA knows it the Pistons know it.

First of all, you are not mistaken.

Secondly, those were not their heads.

Lastly, the guys have unpacked. The only players going back to LA are the Lakers. Any one who thinks the Lakers have a chance at the title have not been watching the series.

You’re mistaken. No NBA team has come back from a Finals series that it trailed 3-1 but it has happened a few times in the earlier rounds.

I’ve been a Laker fan for over 30 years so I will continue to root for my team. I don’t see them winning this one though. Maybe they’ll get back to LA for one more game but they’re just too old, tired and don’t understand team play for shit. I am also extremely annoyed at the blaming of the refs. Fuck that. They’re starting to sound like they’re from Sacramento with all of their whining. Just play the game.

That said, I thought that there was no way on Earth they’d come back against San Antonio let alone in four straight. If anyone can pull off a ridiculous miracle, it’s them.

I don’t feel too bad about Detroit winning this one. Their team played well and Larry Brown deserves a ring.

Haj

PS How fucking retarded is it calling them the “Fakers”? A little originality please.

BUT, since the 2-3-2 series format was instituted in 1985, no team has won the middle 3 games at home either. Of course, there are several explanations for that.

I want the Pistons to win. I despise the lakers. So far the Pistons have totally dominated, but it’s not over till its over.

I am worried that if the Pistons don’t close it out tonight, then the Lakers could rally back into this thing, take it to 7 and then…steal it.

They should have been done when down to San Antonio, but they managed to come back.

I hope I am wrong. But if it doesn’t end tonight, I think the Lakers will win the series. Fingers crossed for the Pistons.

Headline: Lakers Get Shafted By Pistons

I forgot to add my own missive about the refs. It’s got nothing to do with favoring one team over the other though. I guess it’s just the purist in me. here my complaint.

Does a player have to have luggage to get called for travelling these days? They did start calling it near the end in the last game, but sheesh.

I think the Detroit police are checking over their riot gear in anticipation of the “victory celebrations” as we speak.

The thing I love about this is that the Lakers and the talking heads on ESPN are both being embarassed. Before the series started the consensus of opinion among the SportsCenter hosts seemed to be “Lakers in five.”

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

I refer to them as the Fakers because they do not play actual basketball, they fake it.
The league has had special rules for the Lakers for years now because they were such an amazing cash cow (Stern had a financial interest in the Fakers doing well, like the NFL and the Cowboys years ago).
I think it’s hilarious that the Fakers/Shitheads are being babied by the refs and losing and they bitch about all of the “bad calls” that they get because they are not being handled with the same Kid Gloves as a few years ago.

Fuck 'em and feed 'em fishheads!

OK, now I understand. You’re delusional. It’s just a game, dude.

Haj

I really hate to say that the pistons have the series wrapped up, but the lakers have not shown that they can even win a game much less come back from a 3-1 deficit. Even in game 2 the pistons controlled the tempo of the game.

As for the “fakers” tag, I would like to add that they are a fake team. Shaq hates Kobe. Kobe hates Shaq. They don’t even really talk to each other after/between games. Lately Kobe, Shaq, Rick Fox, and two others asked Coach Jackson to take Payton and Malone off the starting line and Jackson went and told the team about it. I can see that helping some teams, but I’m sure that it did nothing but make the lakers even more fractured than they were before. Thusly the"fakers" they are, though I won’t call them that. Tis silly.
Come on Pistons. Wrap it up.

With two minutes left: Pistons 98, Lakers 74. Unless the NBA recently adopted a 15-Point Shot rule I missed, it’s over.

Well, that answers that. The Lakers were down, they needed to dig deep and come up with a big performance, and from what I saw they may well have played the worst game in the history of the NBA finals.
