Okay, long story short: my son has started watching Dragon Tales, a PBS tyke-show ladled thick with morals and social values and all that whatnot. One day, while enduring another wretched episode, I suspected that Christian fundamentalists would freak out about the show, since it shows magic and dragons and whatnot in a positive light. Needless to say, it didn’t take long to confirm that hypothesis.
I had considered mocking these folks in the Pit, but didn’t really see the point – I’m sure folks that wound up would find Evil Satanic Influences[sup]TM[/sup] in everything they saw, whether it was Mr. Rogers Neighborhood or Totally Spies!
So, in the spirit of good ol’-fashioned mockery, I toss this out to the (unwound) Dopers out there – take a pop culture song/show/movie/franchise, and tell us what secret Evil Satanic Influences[sup]TM[/sup] you find within. Expose the schemes of the Godless Libural Media and their New Age plots!
And let’s try to avoid the obvious targets, eh? Picking on “Casper the Friendly Ghost,” “Wendy the Good Witch,” and “W.I.T.C.H.” is like shooting guppies in a shotglass…
Mr. Mosher believes that the refrain spoken in each Dragon Tales short- “I wish, I wish with all my heart to fly with dragons in a land apart”- refers to astral travel, which he equates with out-of-body experiences. Astral is defined as “relating to the stars.” Therefore, space travel is Satanic.
Elsewhere on the Kjos Ministries site, they post news stories. Here are some on entertainment that apparently is against God’s wishes. The January listing is a humor column by Dave Barry. I don’t know what that means, though.
And oh yeah- like Mosher pointed out, all Mexicans are Satan. So that automatically makes any TV show made for a Hispanic audience (Dora the Explorer, Maya and Miguel, etc.) automatically Satanic.
Kingdom of Heaven can be viewed as propagating a message of atheism, or at least religious indifferentism. The essentially secular values of “knightly honor” are portrayed as fundamentally superior to the religious mission that brought the Crusaders to the Holy Land in the first place.
Star Wars is a totally blasphemous mix of kaballah, masonry, and outright satanism.
Yoda is named for the first letter of the tetragrammaton, Yod. Yod is the smallest letter in the hebrew alphabet, which is why Yoda is so tiny. Yod symbolizes the origin of all things.
That’s not so bad, since Yoda is supposed to be a good guy, right? It’s just a little blasphemy. However, as Ralph McQuarrie’s original concept art makes even clearer, Yoda is a representation of Baphomet, the Satanic image the Knights Templar worshipped. The Jedi Knights, of course, represent the Templars, and Lucas is deliberately propagating their heresy.
The thing is, there is nothing I could make up for this thread that i haven’t seen in a more extreme form on some fundamentalist website or in a book (Terror in the Toybox and Ravaged by the New Age were “classics” of the genre). Sometimes it’s impossible to tell a Landover Baptist-type parody from the real thing.

3 years ago we had our first pop stars reality show in Slovenia. The winners formed a band called Be Pop and as if it wasn’t enough that such shows are work of dark forces, the initials of the 5 members of the group were:
