On the mostly-female board I just came from, I’m seeing story after story about women who couldn’t get a tubal ligation without the written consent of their husbands - in recent years in the U.S., no less - but nobody knows of men who had to get their wives’ permission for a vasectomy, ever. This is not “have you discussed this with your husband and are you aware that the procedure is intended to be permanent”.
