Finish the "Star Trek" story: Discussion/control thread

“Frankling” being a small, Kosher hot dog favored by Pellerian youngsters. See the above post concerning “lunch money”.

I purposefully left that ambiguous. I mentioned Capt. Xiang, the Chief of Security, Lt. T’Parel, and the xenosociologist, Lt. JG Thelen, but there may be a few others. They’d each have combadges, of course, and I suspect at least one tricorder. T’Parel would surely have a hand phaser, but would the others? That’s your call.

Bonus points for anyone who spots the “Monty Python” reference in my post #69 in the story.

it’s gotta be this exchange:

but I’m certain MP never referenced ST in its life.

Nope!

“Stir the pot”?

No, sorry. A clue: it’s kinda short.

The word “But”?

Feel free to play with my storyline:

  1. Did the Seer’s get detailed advance warning from the Pelleri royalty of the need to evacuate and did they obfuscate the warning? Why?
Or did the royalty make a half-hearted (or no-hearted) attempt at warning the populace and the Seer’s are doing the best they can?
  2. Are the outlying folks rural by choice or kept primitive?
Or are they just as advanced as the rest but could only rig a hand-cranked phone on short notice?
  3. Do some people reject the idea of a dragon and think it’s Pelleri-made? Or does the royalty perpetuate the myth to keep the people in check?
  4. Why is Gul Sheket in these negotiations? He’s more an espionage type. Discussing mining rights is boring (see Post 72).

Where this storyline is headed right now:
The Pelleri ship uses a warp technology that, under warp, gives a very small sensor footprint. The Cardassians and Romulans want the drive to make a spy ship that slips in and out of places undetected. Unfortunately when the drive is used for fast high-speed jumps it creates a spacial anomaly kind of like a wormhole. Most evaporate immediately/quickly. A few (as seen before) stick and disrupt the space-time continuum. Who knows, they might be precursors to what will happen in 47310.2.

A minor second point, but one that the Cardassians and Romulans play up to hide their true intentions, is to acquire a drive that makes dilythium, dylithium, and dilithium :). But it can only make it if the minerals are of the right type and right proportions.

I have no idea what to do with the common folk and their dragon.
Uh… close, but no cigar.

Because our editor brought him back…

then, this?

Even shorter.

Corner Case, with all due respect (sincerely meant!), I’m not purposefully not reading your spoiler box. I don’t want my contributions to the story to be subconsciously nudged one way or the other by what other writers might be thinking of doing.

I hope somebody will post another scene or chapter soon, though. It’s been just sittin’ there for two days, since my last post, and I have some more stuff in mind!

tomorrow I shall add something

But meanwhile, I had a thought. Would there be any advantage to the other writers if the creator of a character or characters posted the character’s bio here? Would it help to keep the characters consistant from author to author? The main ones seem to be, but the secondary and minor ones not so much.

Hmmm. I dunno. Seems like it’d just be all the more to have to remember, to maintain continuity. Better, I think, if someone had a particular question about a character, he or she asked it here, and whoever originated that character could respond. Any response would just be a suggestion or friendly guidance, of course - other than not killing 'em, any contributor is free to do pretty much what he or she wants with any character who appears. See Rules 2 and 4.

ok - go ahead and add more to the story. I’ve posted.
But I’ll get back to Collins and Goldberg as soon as I’ve had a chance to think more about the spatial anomolies

ok, see, now I can’t post what I’ve worked on until you go in and post what you wanted to

Done!

It should be known that the Andorians find communication 612 particularly offensive.
^ :dubious: ^

should we know why?
