Anybody running FF2 and can locate this “Search Engine Manager” that’s touted as a new feature?
I downloaded the “British English” version of Firefox to get “s” instead of “z” in some words and to put “u” back where it belongs (colour, flavour, etc) --we do that in Canada. Since it has a spell check, it was a pretty good idea.
Except that all the loaded search engines are for UK sites (Google UK, BBC, etc). :smack: That’s nice, but I’d like to re-order them, and delete some I won’t use.
FF 2 is supposed to have a “Search Engine Manager” that will allow me to, well, manage my search engines. There’s even a screen cap of it here(last feature listed).
But, where is it?? Google seems to turn up an old extension that handled this, and the same quote from the same press release.
Anybody know?
Click on the down arrow to the right of the Google icon (assuming that’s the default search engine), and you get a menu of search engines, and at the bottom is a button that says “Manage Search Engines…”, click on that, and you get the Search Engine Manager.
If I click the down-arrow immediately to the left of the search box, the last option in the drop-down is “Manage Search Engines”. Presumably that is what they are talking about.
Argh! I wish it was possible to delete responses within a minute or two after submitting so I wouldn’t look like a goof for saying the exact same thing as the previous respondent (who hadn’t replied yet when I first started typing my reply)!
And I wish it were possible to edit an OP so I didn’t ask a question that in retrospect was so damn simple!
Thanks! Found it and I’m happily changing my engines. For the record, I was in “Tools -> Options”" looking for the manager.
Don’t feel bad. You meant well, so who’s going to fault you? Relax.
You, too, RumMunkey. Your question ended up educating many people here (including me).
