Firefox Add-ons bar won’t go away!

These days, whenever I start up Firefox (8.0), or even if I just open a new FF window, it has the Add-ons Bar open at the bottom. This is quite useless to me. It takes up valuable screen real estate, and, in fact, only one add-on extension appears on the bar, an extension that I prefer to access via the Tools menu.

I can close the Add-ons Bar either by clicking its close button or by unchecking it in the menus at View –> Toolbars. However, it keeps coming back every time I start Firefox or open a new FF window (not if I just open a new tab).

This behavior did not start when I installed the extension in question (or any other extension). I have had this extension for quite a while, but the annoying Add-ons Bar behavior began only recently, possibly with one of Firefox’s own updates.

Does anyone know how to stop the Add-Ons bar from appearing with every new FF window?

Just because it didn’t start when you go the addon doesn’t mean it isnt’ causing the problem. All Firefox extensions automatically updated. You really need to test Firefox without any addons turned on.

If that’s still messed up, then you’ll probably want to save your bookmarks and create a new profile. Install all your old extensions, look into saving parts of your old profile you might want to keep, then delete the old profile.

Ha! The add-on in question just updated itself and the problem has gone away. So nevermind I guess.
