Is there any way to change the default folder for when I bookmark a site in Firefox?
The closest thing I could find is the OpenBook extension for Firefox. It lets you do one of two things, depending on how it’s configured:
-
Default to the last selected folder. (So that when you add a bookmark to the Blah folder, all subsequent bookmarks will also go in the Blah folder unless you explicity choose another one – which will then become the new default).
-
Bypass the Add Bookmark dialog altogether and immediately add bookmarks to a pre-specified folder.
Also not the same, but you can drag the things all over the place, e…g you could put your default folder on the bookmarks toolbar, and then drag the URL icon into that to bookmark it.
I don’t think you need any plugins. When you select Bookmark This Page, don’t you get a Create in dropdown box, to let you select whichever existing folder in which to create the bookmark? Or click on the Show all the bookmarks folders, which will let you add a new folder.
