This is weird, so I’m open to suggestions. Starting earlier today, Firefox (v. 69.04) won’t go to the SMDB…at all. No error message, no 504, no nothing. The address bar just goes back to where I was originally. I don’t have any kind of site blocker installed. Firefox will go to any other site I’ve used recently, but not to this site.
Edge and Chrome will allow me to come here without any problem at all, so it’s definitely a Firefox problem. Does anyone have any wild suggestions? I’m poking around in the settings for Firefox and can’t see any indication that SMDB is blocked. Again, I get no message at all from Firefox.
Turn off every extension you use. See if SDMB works then. It does? Turn on your extensions one at a time until SDMB doesn’t work, then replace or ashcan that extension.
OK. It’s working again. Strangely, I noticed that my Realtek wifi adapter was showing connected in the taskbar icon, but the utility showed it as disconnected. I stopped and restarted the utility and now they agree. Firefox was immediately able to go to SDMB. May be just a coincidence, especially since I could go to other sites without a problem. It’s all magic anyway…
Actually, that’s my error. My Firefox is v. 79, but my Thunderbird is 69.04 (because of the whole SSL 1.1 thing). Sorry to mislead everyone.
I am still mystified by this. I didn’t even get to the point of clearing my caches. Furthermore, other websites were definitely refreshing properly and not using cached pages.
Same thing happened to me a while back; using the Waterfox off-shoot of Firefox. Everything else worked but the SD boards just sat there, not opening. I switched to the Brave browser and it worked. Uninstalled Adblock and installed Ublock Origin and all is working now.
