Firefox New bookmarks aren't getting added to my list - help please

This is just crazy. Anytime you bookmark it goes to the bottom of the list. At least thats how its worked for fifteen years.

Suddenly Firefox isn’t doing that anymore. I can’t even find my recent bookmark. I have to open all bookmarks and search for a name of the bookmark. Assuming of course I can even remember a unique word in the bookmark.

I see a entry unsorted bookmarks and that where my recent bookmarks landed. But I only see unsorted bookmarks if I open all bookmarks.

What have they done now? How do I fix it?

Use this addon:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/alf/?src=cb-dl-created

Will this continue to happen forever? I don’t understand why its doing this.

I will use the add on to clean up the mess I have now. thanks

ok, I just added a bookmark and it went to the end of the list. ALF is working. ALF is my new friend.

now, I need to move the 5 bookmarks stuck in unsorted to the list. any ideas?

Open the bookmarks sidebar (cntrl-B). Drag and drop. If you have a lot of bookmarks, it may be easier to go to the page and drag the icon at the left end of the location bar to wherever you want the bookmark to be. If I want to save a bookmark, I always do it that way. I never knowingly let it go to the bottom.

I use the add-on “Add Bookmark Here”:

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/add-bookmark-here-2/

which will add the new bookmark to the top of the list of any bookmark folder you choose. You can drag-and-drop to move bookmarks around within a folder.
To move bookmarks between folders, open “Show All Bookmarks” from the “Bookmarks” menu.
I also use “Go Parent Folder”:

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/go-parent-folder/

when I do a bookmark search and want to know what folder the bookmark is in.
There is a “Search Bookmarks” add-on:

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/sidebar-bookmarks-search-plus/

which I don’t use, but others may like.

Whenever I add a bookmark, I do it this way:
[ul]
[li]Open my Bookmarks sidebar (Ctrl-B or click the Star icon)[/li][li]Drag the URL from the address bar, via the favicon thingy at the far left[/li][li]Put it directly into the bookmarks folder I want it inside[/li][/ul]
No mystery, it does what I want.

One day it will be changed, because everything I do tends to be the least popular method and the makers of the app always eliminate things that they deem unpopular. “As I don’t do it that way, that means nobody else that matters is doing it that way either, so I shall delete it from my app”. Bastards.
