Firefox newbe question

OK, I took the advice of a lot of Dopers and downloaded Firefox as my default Internet browser. Like it a lot so far, but have one probably very simple question.

Whenever I go to a site that requires a password, FF always asks if I want it to remember the password for that site. As far as I’m concerned, the only place for my passwords to be stored is on my computer in an encrypted file, not someplace out there in the wilderness of the Internet.

So is there any setting on FF so that it will never again ask that question? Would really be appreciative of an answer to that one - I hate having to use extra keystrokes!

Or, type:

about:config

in the web address window, search for password and make a configuration change. Not for the squeamish!

The passwords are stored on the computer, not on the internet.

You might find the Mozillazine forums handy as well as interesting. The site is run by volunteers, not Mozilla.

Mozilla’s official forum site is here.

IMO, the unofficial site is better; it incorporates a knowledge base.

Thanks - that reference to tools - security worked fine.
