First Annual SDMB Coffee Mug exchange!

Glad you and your son liked the mug and treats, Ellen Cherry!

Coincidentally, I’ve played in various bands in high school and college.

Coolio Emily.

Me and mah mug.

“Oh, I’m picking out a Thermos for you,
Not an ordinary Thermos for you,
But the extra-best Thermos that you can buy,
With vinyl and stripes and a cup built right in…”

Gee, I hope it’s me!

!!!

Got a ginormous coffee mug +++ from **silenus **… the beautiful oversize mug (really a tankard) is from the Palazzo in Vegas … beer mats from various locales … Godiva sea salt caramels … hot chocolate … teas … looks like a Hawaiian t-shirt eraser (unless it’s edible!) … pens … Buffy the Vampire Slayer collector cards … curious “stamps” which may/may not be good for actual postage … Donut Shoppe keurig cups …

a PLETHORA of funstuff to investigate & & & (oh yes – imbibe: a shot of Korbel Brandy)

Thank you! I am sooooooooooooo surprised & pleased!

now i have to investigate this **silenus **creatur … ???

De nada. Glad you like it. We were in Vegas over the holidays and decided that the Palazzo mugs were just what we needed for the exchange. And yes, it’s an eraser. The stamps are good for postage only on the Discworld.

FTM (Forgot To Mention) that

**silenus **also sent me a tea towel (or it could be a wall hanging, or a table runner), depicting

ANOIA

with the caption below:

Keep Safe Our Kitchens
And Guard Our Drawers

!!! Whatever – it’s lovely. Thank you again.

Anoia

*The minor goddess of Things That Stick in Drawers, Anoia is praised by rattling a drawer and crying “How can it close on the damned thing but not open with it? Who bought this? Do we ever use it?” As she says, sooner or later every curse is a prayer. She also eats corkscrews and is responsible for Things Down The Backs of Sofas, and is considering moving into stuck zips. The Maccalariat family of Ankh-Morpork have been Anoians for five generations. She is not part of the number of gods praised at the Temple of Small Gods, but instead has a freelance priestess who also serves for various other minor deities. Thud! refers to a painting of Anoia Rising From The Cutlery.

She was previously a volcano goddess, possibly under the name Lela. Anoia (and Lela) are first mentioned in Going Postal. She appears in Wintersmith as a tired, skinny woman wearing a bedsheet and smoking a cigarette that sparks like a volcano (she began smoking when the Storm God kept raining on her lava). On a whim, Moist von Lipwig named her as one of the gods responsible for his “miraculous” recovery of a large sum of buried money that he had in fact himself buried: since belief is what empowers Discworld gods, she benefited tremendously from the resulting surge of believers. As of Making Money her religion has seen something of a revival, and now she is making a move into becoming the Goddess of Hopeless Causes.*

Bought a mug today; want to buy something else to go with, which I’ll try to do tomorrow. Or maybe over the weekend. Should mail the whole shebang by Monday.

So someone somewhere west of Philly who hasn’t gotten anything yet – it’s coming.

Wow, the postal service was prompt because I know I wasn’t the first person to send a mug.

You know the great part of sending someone a mug and treats? It gets your butt to the store to buy some treats for yourself. I bought some of that same tea for me too.

@ deedeeknowit Oh my goodness!! I just received the BEST package!! Thank you SOOOO much! I was having a bad day and came tonight to find the best gift! So many good treats and I LOVE the Venetian mug! You’re amazing!!

PS I am sending my mug and coffee tomorrow!

I suck at extras. Now I feel bad. Recipient, I, um, hope you have (access to) a coffee grinder.

Anyway, received Tuesday – thanks, Spoiler Virgin, as soon as we have a mantel the cable car is going there – and sent mine out today. I didn’t reuse the box.

The way the new year has gone insane at work for me, I’m proud of myself for getting the mug shipped - there are no extras in mine beyond my hope that I packed it well enough that the mug survives the US and Canadian mail systems! So don’t feel bad.

I wanted to send a very specific mug as I have one and love it, so I ordered it online with the intention of sending additional goodies in the same package. Turns out its nigh-impossible to ship foodstuff across borders. :frowning: I didn’t want to delay the pricess by having it shipped to me THEN sending it out, so I just went with shipping from the site. So y’all aren’t the only ones who shipped a mug sans goodies.

Thanks! Glad you like it!

Well it’s been a hellish week at work and finally picked up the mug to break it on the way home, can’t even blame the postal services. I hope the last day of the week is better than the rest of it.

So I’ll buy a new one and send it (with the goodies) probably on Monday. Hopefully it won’t take too long to find its way to my recipient!

Hey, Shoeless! Got my kickin’ Kansas mug and my coffee - two kinds! - last night. Brewed some up this morning, and it was luscious. Thanks a million.

Thank you very much, bobkitty! I’m sick with the flu, and my mug arrived just in time for me to enjoy some soup in it for lunch! It’s lovely!

WOW that was fast! It wasn’t supposed to arrive til Tuesday. Glad it arrived at a fortuitous time, and that you like it! I love mine- perfect size, and the artwork is nice.

Now I’m even more excited to get my new mug!

Thanks a LOT. Now I gotta google “Discworld” & find out about THAT !!! :smack:
