First Annual SDMB Coffee Mug exchange!

I came home yesterday to find a shoebox-sized package waiting for me. Excitedly, I opened it to find a wonderful gift set from Heart of Dorkness: A mug with a crab on it, some Old Bay sprinkle, a small mallet () and some wonderful cream caramels. My wife likes the mallet and has already threatened to use it to inflict bodily harm on me should I fail to toe the line, and we both agree the “I’m Feeling Crabby” mug is a perfect sentiment for for this curmudgeon!

So, Heart of Dorkness, thank you very, very much. This was a lot of fun and I look forward to participating next year.

Which reminds me. I procured my giftee’s mug, and will send it out either tomorrow afternoon if I can get off work early enough, or if not then Tuesday. Being sent from Oregon > mumblemumblemumble on the east coast, so any east coast Dopers still waiting… patience.

My mug and some goodies headed west today! Hope the recipient enjoys.

(I forgot to enclose a card, so wrote PapSett on the return address…)

Oh, you’re in for a treat.

Shoot. I was hoping its purpose would be clear in the context of the other items, but it’s the quintessential Maryland tool for eating crabs, as featured here. It’s used to crack open the claws; those who are more civilized and/or don’t like fun might use a nutcracker instead.

This is also a valid and widely-accepted use.

You’re most welcome, TGIF.
Glad to hear it got there safely and you’re happy with the contents.

I mailed mine a week ago today. I hope it finds its way… I too, added no goodies, sorry. :frowning:

You’re welcome! Just FYI - my best friend from college, who lives in Seattle now, insists that Z’s is the best coffee shop he’s ever been in, anywhere. So I guess that’s sayin’ something. I worried after I mailed it that you might not have a grinder for the beans, but it sounds like you are all set.

As for me, I came home from work tonight and there was a coffee-mug-sized package on the front porch, and I was all excited - until I realized as I started opening it that it was addressed to my wife. :frowning:

Today, however, the mug is here! Very nice. It has a sepia print of the NYC skyline and the Brooklyn Bridge. Thanks Hershele Ostropoler! (And don’t worry - I have a coffee grinder. Two, in fact.)

My mug & goodies are here! THANK YOU Anwar!! It is a HUGE, beautiful blue mug that could easily be used for soup, and a loaf of home baked bread that smells heavenly and will be used with my dinner later today, can’t wait!

My mug and goodies have been sent, hopefully it will get there soon!

I arrived home after a long and arduous day (seriously. Regular workday + teaching a class from 7:30-9:00 = FRIED BRAIN) to a sturdy-as-hell-feeling mug from the Old Rock Cafe via ChickaPicosa along with some coffee that smelled fantastic as I opened the box (ok, it could be that I haven’t had dinner yet, but I’m sure that’s not it  )

Black Bear’s Butt made me laugh even before I read the reason behind it - and I am much more of a medium blend coffee person, so good call! And the piece of information about Sudbury you included has my librarian brain itching to head out and find out more - I’m a sucker for old mining (and rust belt) towns and their history.

Also, you have lovely penmanship.

Thanks!

Glad it got there in one piece, Lsura! I hope the coffee is decent. Yes, the mug is a nice thick ceramic so it should insulate fairly well. Enjoy! (Also, your comment about my penmanship made me laugh, as half the time I can hardly read it!)

PapSett, I just received you package. Have you been stalking me? You sent my all time favorite cookies! and the truffles are darling. However, I’m dieting (successfully; 51lbs, so far). They will be my very occasional treat. I’ll have to hide them well from my husband.
The coffee cup is lovely, I’ll use it tomorrow morning.
Thank you, thank you, thank you.

I just realized I didn’t put my user name on my package. I’ll PM my recipient.

picunurse, I just got in last night from out of town! I’d been gone for so long, I didn’t even think that this box on my doorstep could’ve been a mug!

And what a fine mug it is, too!

A brushed aluminum travel mug that even I cannot break! (although I don’t want to test that theory)

She even threw in some tea towels!

Thank you so much, picunurse!!!
I just finished boxing up everything for my recipient… The coffee shop was out of stock on a couple of the goodies before I left, so I had to wait until today to load up. Some freshly-roasted, whole bean coffee (with accompanying mug, plus a couple other treats) shall be headed North tomorrow, where they shall surely be appreciated by someone who is enduring much colder weather than I am!
Thanks again everyone for participating.

Arrived home from work, disappointed to see no package at my doorstep. But wait! There’s the doorbell! The new mail delivery route has my street being the last one delivered for the day.

YAY! Leftfield6 has sent me not one, but two lovely mugs. The first being a classic, old-fashioned diner type coffee mug with a PittyPat’s logo (I haven’t been there in years and don’t thing they were selling mugs at that time). But even better is a lovely cobalt-blue Emory University mug stuffed with chocolates and mints.

Thank you Leftfield6! I’m just going to tote the Emory mug along to my next car club meeting because one of the other members is a graduate of Emory. I can make him envious simply by sipping my hot chocolate.

I’m finally mailing today! To my recipient – sorry. No interesting story, just a domino fall of one small thing after another interfering with my plans. You live a long way away, so my guess is that you’ll get it next week sometime.

Again, sorry for the delays!

Glad it arrived in one piece! No stalking, just saw those cookies and knew they are wonderfully delicious! Congrats on the weight loss! Glad to supply you with a reward.

Got mine today! And soo-prize soo-prize, it already came pre-loaded with some coffee.

Here’s a pic of me enjoying both the mug and the joe.

Yum yum.

Thanks, whoever you are (I know your name, just not the Doper attached to it).

I’ve had the flu all week, so I’ve been a tad late to the party, but mine will be shipping out either today or tomorrow (sans flu, so no worries, it’s coming to you direct)!

Update: A mug is tiptoeing its way home to somewhere in CA…

I finally put my mail in the post today, but it may be February before the recipient receives it! Oh well, dems da breaks for Canadopers.

My package arrived today. A Liberty Bell mug for my cocoa, but I GOT TASTYKAKES! Krimpets and Kandy Kakes. Whoopee!!!

I haven’t had Tastykakes since Nationals was in Philly. Thanks, twicks! My inner junk food demon thanks you, and my wife is wondering if she’ll ever get any of them the way I’m holding them away.
