Earlier tonight I was thinking about which teams haven’t won a Superbowl yet when I realized that every division has at least one “loser” team with no Lombardi trophy.
Which division do you think will be first?
EDIT: And of course I spelled “NFC Eaat” wrong. sigh
I would say the Chargers, but I think the clock is starting to run out on Philip Rivers, much like it is for Eli and Big Ben. Whereas the Eagles are younger. So I went with NFC East.
It’s definitely NOT going to be the AFC South. What a stinker of a division. The Texans could get a win in the next few years, but it will be a long time before either the Jaguars or Titans get theirs.
I would say the AFC West, since the Chargers are consistently competitive and make the playoffs fairly often. Hey this year could be their year, they are looking pretty good!
I think the best bet is pretty clearly the NFC East. Sad to say, but the Eagles are a well-run organization with a smart coach and a young team. The Chargers aren’t any kind of disaster, but they’ve been getting by just on Philip Rivers’ near-greatness for a long time now. Unless they win it with him in the next few years, I think they return to the back of the queue.
NFC East and AFC West seem to be the best choices, but I went with the Chargers because they have the incredible good fortune of being in the same division as the Raiders.
Yeah, but the Chargers aren’t going to find themselves in an AFC Championship game matchup with the Raiders anytime soon. I don’t see how that improves their chances.
There’s a school of thought that that’s been part of the Patriots’ problem in January in recent years - they don’t get battle-hardened enough for the playoffs, coming out of a division full of Bills, Jets, and Fins, and with a resultingly inflated record that often gives them a bye.
